Can anybody provide some evidence of the power impact of removing a Resonator from a car running a 20g? Specifically, I am running a catted downpipe with a Maddad axle back with the Invidia midpipe that has the resonator. The Maddad catback does not normally have a resonator. How much power is the resonator likely costing me?
I am asking this because my recent tune was on the low side for my mods and my tuner is of the opinion that it is most likely due to the restrictive exhaust and my request for a safe tune. I want to know what benefit I am likely to get from removing the silencer since this would be easy and cheap to do. thanks!

Anybody?
Anybody ever switch between a resonated and non-resonated exhaust with a bigger than stock turbo and notice a significant power or spool difference. |

the resonator isnt costing you horsepower. leave it on, you'll never notice the difference with it on or off and will be way to much trouble removing it.
your catted downpipe is the "restriction". you'll make more power with out it but not a whole lot. |

How do you know this? I'm not saying that you are wrong but I'd like to understand your reasoning since my tuner (very reputable) thinks this could be the issue since some resonators neck down.

silencer or resonator?? silencer will most def. affect power.
resonator not so much as long as it doesn't neck down like you said. one easy way to check is to look through it. the cat is a huge restriction. look through it. if your numbers are low, it might be because of your request for a safe tune. safe can mean anything from a hair off the ragged edge or never knock no way no how even with 83 oct. another thing is that its hard to compare numbers with what you typ. see online, noone really knows how close to the edge the car was tuned. and low by how much?? we talking 15hp or like 50hp |

I should have been more clear rather than using resonator and silencer interchangibly. This is a resonator. One from an invidia midpipe -- not sure which specific catback it is from.
I am getting the car back tonight. I will do some poking around. The car is hitting target boost but I think it is spooling a few hundred rpms slower than it should be based upon when similar spec'd cars are hitting target boost. It is also down a bit in power from what I expected. Tough to quantify, to your point, but perhaps as much as 30hp and 20ft lbs through the meat of the power band on the same dyno. I realize that the cat is the bigger restriction but I won't remove it for a variety of reasons that aren't important since it isn't coming out regardless of the power implications. |

Lots of people use invidia exhausts and make good power so I doubt the resonator is holding you back. Muffler?

Maddad axle back with a Harman motive catted downpipe (basically a cobb style bellmouth with a flat flange).
