Hey guys Im in dire need of a new set of tires...I have the stock re92's...My right rear has a huge bubble in it and is about to blow. I have been looking at the hankook ventus v12 225 45 r17 and the dunlop direzza star specs 225/235 45 17...Can I run 235's on my stock wheels? the re92's on there now are 215's and seem really narrow...they are 7.5 inch wide wheels.. The star specs come out to about 520 shipped and the hankooks are 420 shipped both with 50dollar mail in rebate...Id rather not spend 520 on tires because im just a spirited daily driver right now but if those hankooks arent sufficient i guess ill have too...I have done research but I still feel unsatisfied with it
...I appreciate any and all advice...Thanks, Chris

Stick with 225s. Anything larger is not the best on the stock wheel, which is only 7" not 7.5".

225s will work better for your application. You will give up response IMO with anything wider. The Ventus EVOs will probably last you longer as they have a better treadwear rating but StarSpecs will likely corner better.

Hehe...I will go for duration this time around...Both seem like nice tires...direzzas seema bit prettier but I need something to last as well...I will stick to 225 for sure then.

Don't let the look of the tread sway you decision. I haven't heard much feedback on those Hankooks but personally, but my next set was likely gonna be the Dunlops. Until the new Bridgestone Potenza 760 Sports came out. Handling close to or same as the Dunlops with better longevity but higher price. Now I'm back on the fence... I hate working for a tire shop sometimes!

No im not going solely on looks...ive read a few things and the Hankooks seem reasonable. For my application as well...Either will be an improvement over the overpriced re92's...

The Potenza Re 760s are really nice I put a set of them on 09 wrx stockers in 225/45 17 on my 07 wrx wagon I love them so far. I have upgraded most chasis stuff but still have stock struts and springs. Anyone know what struts work well on the wagon and what springs? I don't want to lower the car I like the stock ride height but stiffer springs.
