How long did you test them for? I have noticed that the units tend to overheat and become sluggish after a few hours of use when using copied discs...

Not sure why....Not sure if there is something about the original discs that stops this from happening..

I've been using one for 3 months now, no problems.

I never noticed any overheating and I own two different models.
I have the 5510 in my car and the 62D in my girls truck.

Both are using the discs i made. Seem to working perfect.

Where did you gather this info? i am curious about that.

Not trying to be antagonistic at all. It is just something I noticed when I purchased a copied version of the MDV-06D disk a couple of years ago. It worked just fine in my AVN 5435 day to day (while now making it run hotter than usual), but found that on longer road trips (after about 4 hours of driving), the head unit would still run VERY hot, and would become sluggish and responsive... almost like a windows PC that has been on for a few too many days.

Buttons would be slow to respond, voice guidance was no longer on cue, and the map would freeze until I rebooted the system or allowed it to cool down.

Switched back to the standard DVD with its firmware, and no issues.. Runs cool and reliably, like stock.

I found online a few other incidences of people using copied discs in the head unit, and them ending up with the same issues I came across - overheating, with the head unit eventually entering a comatose state. We all had used different DVD discs to burn the discs, so we were only able to conclude that there had to be something about the standard DVD that Eclipse supplies.

This is why I asked how long you carried out testing on the discs for. I was hoping that perhaps you had come across a solution. For all I know, it could even have been the firmware included with the MDV-06 disc that was to blame.. I cannot be sure.. I would like the latest MDV-09 disc, but the issue I had with the 06 disc has me confused. I would have thought that a DVD is a DVD, but it seems that something is amiss in my reasoning.

As mentioned, I found that the copied disc I had worked fine for shorter trips (2 hours or less) where the head unit did not overheat, but on longer trips where the head unit was in use for longer periods of time, the gremlins started showing up.

Frustrating because there is so much more useful data on the copied disc, but it does not seem to agree with the head unit for long periods of time.

Interesting, I wonder if it was just that version of the firmware.
