Default 07 STI Owners, is diff noisy on highway?

07 STI owners, do you ever hear a faint hum/groan on the highway while your foot is on the gas? (Maintaining speed, not accelerating). I mean *aside* from tire noise. It's like a "whiiir whiiir whiiir whiir"

I had a similar noise, only much louder, and the dealer replaced the FR wheel bearing for me. This noise is different and it it happens regardless of which way I am turning, but it does happen more often when I am turning (gradual highway turn). I also sometimes hear it while going straight.

I am just trying to figure out if I have a problem or if this is a characteristic of the car that I will have to get used to.

I am changing the fluids this weekend and hope it helps..

yeah, i get a high-pitch whine when my foot is on the gas pedal. when i let-up on the gas pedal, the sound diminishes/ goes away. it also gets louder as i accelerate. i don't know what the root-cause is, but i was going to take it to the dealership to ask them to help me troubleshoot it.

whew.. I feel relieved. so either we all have a problem, or this is just a trait of the new "loud" rear diff. I can live with that!

yeah, that brings up an interesting question. if any of you guys shift gears (from 6th to 5th or 4th) and maintain a constant speed, do you still get the whine? is it gear related or is it for sure a diff thing?

I've heard the whine in 3rd and 4th, although not as noticeable as it is in 5th and 6th.
