Default compression-OK, leakdown-OK, turbo-OK ... what's wrong???

where there' smoke, there's ???
looking for possibilities here...
2004 (new to me) forester XT with 102k on the clock
drives great, idles well... use it as a daily driver, not abusing it

Started smoking from the exhaust and a little from the turbo area last week, enough to cloud up an intersection and be rather embarrassing. Does this every time, begins once it it starts to warm up, until about 10-15 minutes of driving at normal temperature, especially when idling. It's definitely not coolant, white grey oil stink. After driving for a while it goes away and does not come back until the next time i use the car

I'm not loosing a significant amount of oil...but what the hell?
DS1 disassembled everything...it's not the banjos, the return lines or the turbo (no shaft play).
Compression is 150-160 on all cylinders.
Leakdown was <5% on all cylinders.

drained the oil (not sure what brand they put in at last change) and am now on valvoline 5w30 dino...still smoking.

what are the possibilities here???

all signs point to the turbo seals.

I would say most likley^^ but also check the turbo oil feed hard lines. Sometimes they crack.

all the turbo lines were clean and uncracked.

DS1 doesn't think it's the turbo after inspection (stock td04)

i would go to another shop. DS1 doesn't have the best reputation on here...

your compression and leak down are good, you're not losing a significant amount of oil...it's gotta be the turbo seals. it's fairly common.

why i state that DS1 doesn't have a good rep:

ds1 does have a good rep... that is one particularly angry customer who swears a lot at anyone he can find and doesn't seem to be very reasonable....

Your symptoms point to turbo seals in my opinion as well.

You can have minimal shaft play and still have bad turbo seals.

+2, but do NOT use a Framinator or other chain parts store knock off. I have learned the hard way on this...
Subaru OEM only FTW.

Turbo was NOT ok....
swapped with another used td04 in good condition.

old turbo had at least 1/4" to 1/3" of radial shaft play!!

needless to say, i'm not smoking or burning significant oil anymore
