I have some thick stereo power cable that has clear red rubber insulation, I want to paint in flat black. Has anyone tried this? What should I use to keep it from cracking and peeling?

Just wrap it in Electrical tape.
Paint will peal. |

Or you could grab some cable sleeving. I don't mean the split loom crap (looks cheap). The stuff I'm talking about requires threading the whole cable through the sleeve then just zip tie and heat shrink the ends with your connections.
http://www.frys.com/product/2281398?...H:MAIN_RSLT_PG I've used this stuff in my PC and it looks great, for just a bit more $ than the can of paint. I'm pretty sure anything you spray on that cable will either end up all over everything it touches or just peel/crack/flake apart by the time you get it routed where it needs to go. I'd say just go buy a black cable, but I know it's not always so simple. Al & Ed's Autosound here in San Diego only has blue or clear coated cable. WTF?!? With Circuit City gone, and Fry's being lame, there aren't as many choices unless you buy online and wait. |

That's an idea, but a lot of work to make it look good. It would be hard Ithink to get the tape to wrap really nicely and evenly.
