I will make this kind of short. You can look up a DIY install for a tranny, I am not going to re write something that is already out there. This is to make the 05 LGT tranny ready to install into a 02-03 WRX with female front axles.
First off you need the clutch with it because they are different, and you will also need the rear differential. The 05 LGT has 4:11 gears, which are awesome! Also the clutch slave. The speedo gear is located in the ABS in the LGT and in the tranny of the WRX. The case needs to be opened up to remove the gear, there is 1 c clip holding it in the case. The speedo gear will now need to be installed in the LGT tranny. You will have to open the case for this also. There is a bung located where the gear needs to go. You will need to purchase a set of axle stubs and c clips to install in the front differential before you close the case. Axle stub (Subaru) part number: 38415AA10 C clip (Subaru) part number (1.05 thickness): 805028011 C clip (Subaru) part number (1.20 thickness): 805028012 I personally could not figure out which c clip I needed, I bought both and ended up using the thicker ones. You will need 2 stubs and 2 clips. Once those are installed in the fron diff you can close the case back up and seal it with a gasket or liquid gasket. I used liquid gasket cause I have some really good stuff. Now your 05 LGT tranny is ready to install into your 02-03 WRX and will fit the factory front axles for your WRX. I know this might be kind vauge, my husband did the work (sorry no pics). I did a lot of searching on the net on what we needed to do and didn't find much. So I hope that what information I gave will help. If you have any questions pm me and I can ask my hubby ![]() This will work for any tranny 05+ because they changed the front axles to male. So if you found an 05 WRX tranny you would need to buy the stubs and clips and install them the same way, same with an STI tranny, but the stubs are different.
