Default Just installed boost gauge, peaks at 12psi. Is this normal on a stock '02 WRX?

The title says it all.

the gear affects engine load and THAT affects how much boost you will see

14.7 is the stock boost on an STi. A WRX is 13.5 iirc. Either way you should peak more than 12 pounds but from what i've read here 12 pounds is a normal consistent pressure.

Mine peaks around 16.9, I have seen the low 17s but that's with a stage two reflash.

13.61 is stock. I had thought it was 14 something but I doublechecked on an original map, guess not.

If I am truly not hitting 13.5 psi, what could be preventing me from getting full boost?

It seemed like the consistent boost level was about 11 psi.

just took the car through third and couldn't get a long hard pull as I was already 15mph past said speed limit. But i didn't see the needle peak past 12psi.

Elevation here is 2376 ft on average. I am no science whiz, but does this elevation constitute that amount of boost? or lack there of?

You should be fine at that elevation. Third gear should also be fine for a pull. You most likely have a boost leak. Check all your vacuum lines.

pressure at sea level is 14.7 psi, so if your 2k or so feet up, there is less pressure, making it harder for your turbo to make the 13.61 psi because there is less atmosphere pushing it...i guess...

I did some pretty hard pulls later on and its pretty consistent at 11 psi. I am going to check for vacuum leaks tomorrow. I will chime back in and let you guys know what I find.

What kind of boost gauge? How was it installed? Where does the needle sit when the car is off? Where does the needle sit when the car is idling?
