There's a number of ways to get in on this; everyone ends up taking their own path, but here are some options (this is not meant to be a step by step list... pick and choose what works best for you):
1. Buy a cheap, pre-built rally car http://www.rallyclassified.com/ http://www.SpecialStage.com/ you can find yourself a decent Volkwagen Golf MkII for around $6000-$7000 and you likely will find that you can get plenty of spare parts going this route. 2. You may be able to use your current vehicle to participate in other smaller level events while you save up money for a prepared car: auto X, Rally X, hillclimbs, track days, etc... you may find that you're able to scratch that itch just by doing these and not spending a lot more to get into stage rally 3. Attend/volunteer at rally events... talk with drivers/co drivers if you are able to get a few minutes of their time (best time is probably at the parc expose before the race begins) 4. Attend a rally school. 5. Co-drive for someone else |
