Default Straight exit exhaust that won't make my ears bleed?

Just picked up an 06 WRX.. Looking for a CBE and I've been searching the forums for info like mad.. The ones that have caught my eye so far (because there are tons of used ones around) are Apexi GT Spec, Blitz Nur Spec and HKS Hi Power..

I like the straight exit of the Apexi and the Blitz but the sound of the HKS.. The HKS just doesnt seem to "fit" the car right in my opinion..

Is there a best of both worlds?? Considering I'm going to stop at catback will the apexi and blitz be THAT loud??

Sorry, I'm sure these questions have all been answered but there's only so many searches one can do

Thanks!

be careful, you'll want more power and might go catless later on.

i have the invidia g200 and it is loud catless, but i love the way it looks.

I had the blitz nur spec. It was pretty loud. My wife couldn't stand it without the silencer. I have had the apexi gt spec for about 4 years and it is fine. If you are going to just do a catback and keep everything else (downpipe) it should not be that bad.

We all have perceptions of sound.

I like loud.

My friend has a catless SPT exhaust on his limited STi and it's pretty loud; almost as loud as my Apexi N1 catback!
But that's his turbo'd car to my NA car.

i have had both.... the BLITZ is much more louder than the Apexi... I think the Apexi Gt Spec should be good for you.

I've been running the XR-1 for a little while now (catless DP also). I think it's tame enough to drive around town without everybody turning their head... unless you want them too. If you open up the throttle a little bit and it can start creeping toward the loud side. WOT is a totally different story though .

Get something with a real canister instead of a fart cannon (pardon the term). For instance, Prodrive and Stromung exhausts use perforated core straight-thru mufflers that are much quieter than the fart cannons you've listed. The only benefit of a fart cannon is that you lose a few pounds off the back of the car.
