Default OEM Clutch/ACT Clutch >Strain<

well, second gear was completely ripped off(among other damages) 1000k after act clutch installation. this was just a basic streetlight clutch w/ACT pressure plate and i had 80k even on the stock tranny. stock tranny is being completely rebuilt at a VERY reputable transmission place near my town. no questions i'm going back to an oem clutch kit because i don't want this to happen again esp. considering i'll be getting an 09 wrx after chicago winter and i want to sell it. just curious as to how much more stress an organic ACT clutch really puts on the trans in comparison to a stock clutch. i mean i drove no different than i did for 50k miles at 280whp(peak 275ftlb reached at 3500k) and i hardly ever launch, just go WOT rolling start 1-3 here and there with occasional highway pulls. i'm just freaked that even with an oem clutch and i try to go WOT again i'll get that nerve wrecking BANG FML 2K LATER sound. any experience with rebuilt trans? if you have experience with this let me know. i just can't believe it went THAT fast after installation of new ACT clutch with just basic driving and first time going WOT in 1-2nd.

Your clutch didn't kill the tranny, YOU did. Not hatin'....just sayin' and I hate to be the bearer of the bad news but it's true.

well, i'll admit this when it blew...i wasn't driving my friend(VW for life kind of a guy drives a mkv GTI) was driving it and just doesn't know how to drive a subaru but wanted to take it for a drive because it's such a kick in the pants compared to the GTI ha. i had the new clutch in so he wanted to give it a go. instead of just shifting nicely into 2nd as i do...you know let it out nicely, clutch pressure is way higher anyways, and giving it a little gas, he just dropped it(i THINK SO but my guess powershifted) and BAM. can't have certain people find out about this but my mistake for letting it happen. anyways just weird because he's driven it before and done the same thing. just an accident waiting to happen i guess. now i'm freaked when I DRIVE that the same thing will happen when it comes my turn to do a 1-3 WOT. i hadn't punched it in 1st while i had the new clutch in but we got down his street and he's like can i...i'm like ugh yea go ahead lets see how it is now considering i've had a slipping clutch for 4 months. what's going through my mind is, could it have happened with the better driver or just one screw up(just dropping it 1-2nd) is all it takes. which is why i'm curious is the ACT clutch really THAT much more stressful on the stock tranny vs a oem clutch. so to summarize my other i'm just surprised after one screw up from a guy who has the most miles on my own car behind me and bam after miles on the same set up and it just so happens after the new clutch install. i'm no expert in this field not my study so sorry if this all seems dumb.
