Detonation--how loud

ok before anyone says it I searched! I found out what it sounds like, what causes it, even what it might feel like but I couldnt find out how loud. Is it something I need to be alone on a street to hear or will I be on the freeway and be like hloy crap what was that?

Yes, but more metalicy sounding (metalica?) whatever. Picture the nails in a coffee can + firecrackers + metalica.

Only if it's VERY bad
You can have damage-causing detonation that's innaudible to the naked year (except maybe to trained ears). That's why det cans and knock sensors were invented, you can't always hear knock while driving along, especially over all of the other noises when you're at WOT.

Have you ever experienced detonation? My guess is no.

Most detonation is going to be inaudible in a car over road noise.

That's not necessarily true. You have to be listening for it though.
