Mine does. There is a thread about this in this forum. I'd say a half dozen people in that thread said the same thing.

I am not sure but you should look for the thread as stated above. When the car is first turned on for 30 seconds it is supposed to make a strange noise. The thread details it and all, but it is to be expected for 30 seconds to hear something you wouldn't normally expect with a car warming up.

What you are referring to is a bit different. That is the air pump. It runs for 20-30 seconds and then shuts off and your engine sounds a lot quieter. Think a rattling, noisy oil-less air compressor type sound.

The OP is referring to TOB/clutch noise while you are engaging the clutch in gear when cold. Mine usually goes away after 3-4 shifts. Most dealerships either say it's nothing wrong and to put up with it, or cannot reproduce.

yeah, there are a few of them. here is the one i started: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1775341

still does it depending on humidity. haven't had any problems from it and it's not obnoxiously loud from the inside so i'm not bothered.

Were you the one that mentioned it might be related to humidity? Because you know, I think I'm noticing that too. We've had a lot of rain lately (dregs if Ida) and I've definitely noticed it more the last week. Basically, I'll put it in reverse in my garage and as I just ease the clutch out to roll out of the garage, it makes a high-sh pitch rotational noise (only when partially engaged). When I go into first and ease the clutch out, same thing, but soon as the clutch is fully engaged in a given gear, it stops. Anyway, it doesn't bother me anymore.

i haven't noticed humidity was a factor until more recently. other people have verified this on non 08/09's (leggys). what you described is exactly what i encounter. i spoke to a guy that had an 05 lgt and he told me his has been doing it for over a year and he had no problems. must be lubrication circulation, possibly in the tob, that just needs to get going for a couple minutes. if researching this further, many people claim the tob is bad... i would take that with a grain of salt.

Yep, I agree. Just throw Group N tranny mount on there and some xmember bushings and you won't hear it anymore .

Don't ignore this.

the noise is the bearing moving back/forth slightly.

it keeps doing this, and it will wear down the snout of your transmisson assy.

and that....

will make it impossible to correct without a spendy tranny snout repair kit

and this tranny snout repair kit means you will no longer be able to use OEM throw out bearings.

take the car in. get it replaced and sorted out under warranty

again, my advice? do not ignore this.....

Is it just shortly after pushing it in, or at the bottom of the pedal stroke?

If shortly after pushing it in, you need a new cruise control switch. I had mine replaced a few weeks ago.

If at the bottom you need the engine start clutch switch.

also, try putting a bit of grease on the white rubber pad on the clutch pedal where it pushes the cruise switch in.

why would it go away after the car warms up?

and... will it really mess things up given it only does it about 2min a day a most? it's most predominant between shifts. if you're off the clutch, it's fine.

I know this is a problem with the push style clutches, however what is the fix if you get to it before the IS snout is buggered up? Is it the TOB itself?

on my car, we replaced the TOB

then it started again. I ignored it.

Now my car has a nifty tranny snout repair kit..... and an aftermarket TOB

wish I had more information for you but your best bet?

especially on a new new car?

see your dealership.

Interesting, I will have to double check, but I'm pretty sure its right as I push it in. Thanks for the info!

The bottom line is, not just anybody responded to you guys. But someone from genuineparts.... I would take his advice very seriously. They say not to ignore it so get your ass to a dealership and make them go at it till they fix it =) the only one who suffers in the end is you.

ditto, I get it on occasion. A kind of chirp/whirr sound when the car is cold. Doesn't always happen when its cold, just some of the time.

Unfortunately, the dealer wouldn't be able to replicate it, since it won't do it when warm...
