Default "Home Built" light pod finally done....

I posted a bit ago when I recieved my Prodrive WRC carbon knock off pod. I finally got around to mounting up the lights. They were a custom job for the brackets and such as the lights were "weird" sizes and I gave up trying to find rings for them. So I had an idea and ran with it.

Don't mind the crappy pics or the wires hanging a bit... I'll clean them up

Only the outside KC's are wired up right now so when I finish the Hella's up I'll take some "lit up" shots

That looks awesome. Definitely doesn't look home-made - it looks more professional than anything. Nice work. (Only if you could hide those wires...)

Looks great! Better than anything I've seen (even the 'universal' RRE pod). Would love to have one for my rally car!

it's not exactly "home made" the pod was a Prodrive knock off. It is full carbon fiber though. It's two peices top and bottom. Houses a 4 5/8'' size light and a 8'' light. I went the cheap route with KC 50 series Hilites and 700FF Hella's. I didn't want to spend mucho $$ on mounting brackets and such so I went ahead and made my own mounts. Worked out pretty well. I cut out mounts with three mounting points from sheet metal for each size lights. Then I used the squishy window sealant that you can find at any hardware store to use for mounting the lights and the mounts ontop of the lights for water protection and to be able to angle the lights a bit. I had everything laying around but the sealant strips so it cost me 5.00 for 10' of that and the cost of the lights. I picked the pod up for free as well!

I'll grab some better shots later. The KC lights do a pretty good job of lighting up the road along with the stock headlamps. I'm curious to see the whole package lit up at night. I'll finish the wiring up this week and snap some shots.

Here's a shot from a higher angle ...
