Hi I have a 2002 wrx stock except for an aluminum light weight flywheel. My check enging light comes on periodically and I have taken the car to autozone to get it checked and numerous times it says an emmission problem. Other times it says gas cap. So im assuming my gas cap is on its way out? Any suggestions? Also when I fill up my car it always stalls. Then it starts right up on the second try. Now this ONLY happens after I have just filled up the car and if I give it a good rev it will not stall. Could these 2 problems be linked and is there a simple fix? Thanks for any help

that they did not give to me. But again the cel light doesnt always come on. Ive driven over 500 miles and then it may come on. I ran my car kinda hard last night then as I was taking it easy on the car the light came on. Took it to autozone today they checked the code and cleared and agreed with me that it maybe a simple gas cap. I didnt know if anyone has had the same problem and may know what it might be

did it say EVAP LEAK?
Make sure you write down the code, its easier to diagnose knowing the exact code. |

So did you buy a replacement gas cap? Seems worth it to just eliminate that as an issue.

Check out the following post: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1887889 Both of you have Check-Engine-Lights on but not with the same code readings. May I also point out that both of you have lightweight fly wheel. I realize that I'm no help but maybe you two could PM each other and try and work out the problem together (trying hard not to sound gay ).. |

i would say take it easy on the car for a little while, and if it comes on, get the code(s) and let us know what they are.
and about the car stalling, how many miles do you have on the car? |

no I did not buy the gas cap cause I wanted to be sure of the problem first. I dont know what it read cause the autozone person got the codes and just told me the possible problem. Next time the light comes on ill be sure to ask for the codes to write down. As for the miles i have 80000 on my car.

for the stalling issue i would check everything that's fuel related. injectors, fuel pump, etc.
