Good morning everyone I dont have any cool stories or anything just thought I would jump on in here and introduce myself instead of lurking around and absorbing all your information as a guest. Im an army mechanic currently working on winding up a tour in the Stan, I bought the wife an 08 wrx sedan about a year ago, and realized how much fun these cars are, planning on selling my truck when I get back and picking up an sti or older wrex to play with for myself. Im sure I will be bugging you guys in the near future since im a pretty decent shadetree mechanic when it comes to motorcycles, humvees, or older off road vehicles, but am totally lost when it comes to all these tuning shenanigans. well thats all I got for now, see you around

Welcome to AKIC. Driving these types of cars is about all there is up here. THEY'RE EVERYWHERE! All different colors, builds, tunes, parts, etc. I'm telling you man, drop off the truck, pick up an STi, and have a blast. I just finished a build on my car, and now working on seeing how much more abuse my tranny can take before looking for a Legacy GT Tranny .

As others have said before, there's plenty of knowledgable people on here that can answer just about anything you'd want to know about these tuners.

Like you, I started on Muscle Cars and trucks, but these are a blast.

It's a tough fight for me getting rid of my truck lol, It gets 10mpg and is not close to practical, but one of my favorite things to do is ride dirt bikes or quads, and although i havent really found any good woods riding around, I find it hard to believe its not out there somewhere! Id like to just do some things to her car since you dont see alot of 08 sedans done up at all and i like to be a little different, but a warranty is a good thing to have when im gone alot and she has a 2 year old and a 2 month old to haul around. I got 2 or 3 more months to do some soul searching and figure it out, but either way there will be a subie with some fun bits in my garage in the near future!

Nothing says you can't keep the truck too... They are just too useful to not have one. No way a little Subie is going to haul a trailer loaded down with 15-20k of stuff, haul a load of gravel, etc.

I have 5 or 6 different vehicles, each has it's own use.

Plenty of places to ride 4 wheeler or dirtbike, let me know if you need ideas.

There are some decent trails in the Knik area. Many haven't been run much in the last 5-10 years judging by how overground they are becoming.
If you just stay out on the flats around Jim Creek it is pretty lame though. I was just out at the glacier this past weekend actually.

Keeping a few rigs around isn't too expensive... well other than the WRX, insurance on that is retarded expensive. Costs more to insure my car than it does for my truck, Jeep and a trailer

Yeah the guys I was riding with werent real familiar with the area so im sure there was alot we didnt hit, we just hit the long trail that parralels the sand flats across the creek and took off, it was alright i got to get out and go fast but the ruts were a little rough and other then that wasnt alot of challenge built into them, I pay equal insurance on the bike and the car pretty much, and 300 bucks a year for my street bike, Turning 25 in a few weeks so hopefully that will help out some
