Default Inherited a project car: 1963 Triumph Herald

When I was in college I had a job restoring a couple of Triumphs for a guy while I was on break from school. The first car was a 1960 Triumph TR4 which I finished. The other was a 1963 Herald which I got part way done and then finished school. The owner was going to finish the rest.

That was in 2006 and he didn't really do anything else to it since I stopped work. Last year I told him I could finish it in my spare time this winter. We set a date and he delivered it to my house a couple of weeks ago.

On dropping it off he let me know he'd lost interest in this project. This car and all the parts that go along with it (parts from this car, new pieces, and parts from another Herald he parted out) were signed over to me.

So now I've got this new project that is also mine

It's kinda goofy looking but it has grown on me. I'll be able to get better pictures of it once I can get it running and move it outside of my shop. I'll try and keep this thread updated.

Body work is all done along with brakes and suspension. There's really only assembly left. Have to make a few parts work as the engine, carbs, and tranny are all from something else but otherwise it's going to be pretty easy work.

Why can't my nice neighbor drop his project car in my lap? I know he has a Jeep somewhere on his property that's serviceable.

Nice project car. Have fun with it!

That looks like the 1275cc I had in my Midget.

Get some Cooper S cams for it.

I used to drool over a supercharger for mine. I think minimania sold it.

Actually no, it'll handle the torque. Turn it into a Vitesse model with the Rover 3.5 V8, which I think is actually a Buick engine. IIRC Spitfires where available with this engine too.

Sweet!
Me and my dad are in the middle of restoring a ROUGH Tr3 we had in our old shop, its bad, but most of it is solid.

It sat in our old leaky shop in a corner for 15 years, then another 10 before than in a field, we put some fuel in it and had to re wire a few things that were wrong but she fired up like a kitten, i love these!

Heres a slide show of it my dad put together:

You've never had a project car, have you?

90% done actually means 30% done, but just looks like 90%, IYKWIM.

Looks great. Keep it all original if you can. You'll have someone that loves T's to pay a pretty penny for it.

You do know that the LS1 has a fair bit more torque than a Buick 3.5, right?
