Default 06 LGT With Custom 06/07 STi Front Conversion 56k DEATH

I normally just lurk but thought I'd get around to posting my little project. Here's my 06 LGT Limited with a custom built 06/07 OEM STi front.

My buddy, Tommy Papa a few friends and I started the project during the summer. Was a crazy idea, but Tommy got it to work. Is nice to have a pro body guy for a friend..

This is the top 1/4 of a OEM LGT bumper molded to the bottom 3/4 of a OEM STi bumper. LOTS of experimenting and VERY late nights (thanks Vang and George!). It's not everyone's tatste, but you won't see it on any other LGT.

Day one...cut LGT bumper and whole STi bumper:

Both cut and starting to become one..the straps were all removed. They were support only before plastic weld.

I'm skipping TONS of details for the sake of a shorter post. Here's some info about the build as it went: Tommy; "I know its not easy on the eyes, in a few weeks it will look much better.
As for the large gap in between the two covers. Due to the location of the STi upper grills as well as, the overall shape of both bumpers. It was decided it would be easier to fill that section as needed. Instead of trying to force those bulky sections together. The whole problem there is as follows:
The Legacy cover is just about flat, straight across to the corners. The sti has a broader corner radius, then tapers to a point in the center. This is hidden by the plate bracket. So to shrink the STi cover backwards to meet the legacy bumper, the plate bracket was removed. Allowing me to keep a nice consistent body line all the way across the bumper to be.
A new foam pad that mounts to the re-bar or bumper beam ensures that the stress of the sti bumper does not pull the the legacy cover down, away from the headlights and grill.
Thus maintaining a factory fit and finish. All mounting throughout the top of the cover will remain oem as well.
Next order was to begin gluing the to together. I have made some adjustments to both covers, and they are ready. The adjustments are small, but very important to the overall appearance. The funny thing about it is, neither bumper is symmetrical left to right. They might look it, but they still come from a production mold. I deal with this at the body shop all time. More aftermarket parts than oem. Like I had stated earlier, the bumpers started to change shape after I cut them. So the little bit that they where off has become a large amount.
here are the bands of leftover bumper that are waiting to be glued to the backside. My support system to keep the two from coming apart."

NEXT POST: The final product!

Dude, that is amazing!! Your body shop guy needs to make a mold of your bumper! I am sure a lot of Legacy guys wouldn't mind rocking that!! Mad props to you guys! Have any front shots from further away?

Saw this thing at the OCC meet. It really does look OEM. I didn't even notice the difference until someone pointed it out to me, it was so well done.

It may not be your thing, but i think 19s would make it look crucial! Good work, btw. Looks pretty flawless for a custom job.

The bumber to hood gap could better but I honestly think you did a great job. Good to see something new and done well.
