Default The Official "Gift Idea" thread.

Well it's officially official. No more Zombies, no more Turkeys, it's time to bring on Santa! But what's a single, incredibly busy dude to do??? When you never find the time to go to the mall or browse the online adds, how do you know what's cool, hip, hot on the market right now? Well, that's where this thread comes in.

We can do this a few different ways: Post links to nifty gifts to get for anyone you think (be sure to say who it's aimed at), ask for ideas and wait for someone to answer or just tell el OT what you're buying for your loved ones.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand go!

GF kind of wants a DS. Is Scribblenauts a good game? She's like the anti-gamer, so puzzles and goofy games are probably better.

Also, am I safe going with the ds lite over the DSi?

anything where you shop with 3 days or less and you can look at it and say "dad'll like that, right???", then it's probably good.

So far for the little lady i've ordered a charm for her charm bracelet, a split heart keychain w/ both of our names engraved (I know... highscoolish... but chicks dig that crap), about to order her sweaters & scarf from Victoria's Secret (Courtesy of Slickdeals.net), and a gift certificate for an hour massage at our gym.

My wifey hinted several times that she'd like a camcorder. So, she's getting a camcorder. That sort of took up 300% of my budget for her gift, but I'd still like to get her something else little.

For kids, it can be difficult or easy to buy gifts. For my little guy, it's easy. He plays with his Hot Wheels mostly, so he'll be mostly getting HW playsets and other wheeled vehicle toys, with some musical stuff, a toy tool bench, and Playdoh stuff mixed in. For my 5 y/o niece and nephew it was a little more difficult because I don't see them very often. But, my nephew told me on Turkey Day that he doesn't have any LEGO Space police stuff, and that I can buy him that for Xmas. Yay, cross him off the 'to-get-for' list. My niece, i'm not sure yet.

For the rest of our family, we don't buy gifts or exchange names any more. Now we all get together, bring a few $5 gift thingies, and then we play games and pick prizes. Easy and fun.

How about YOUR PENIS?

I'd let you give her mine, but it's out of your price range.

Can anyone recommend a good FM Transmitter I could get for my fiance? I'd rather it not be a hard mount. set up

Great thread.

Here's my dilemma..I've only been dating this girl for 1 month. Problem is:
1) dont know her well enough
2) dont want to spend much
3) no jewerly
4) she's not materialistic and specificly told me not to go overboard

I was going to get her a Gucci scarf but conflicts with 2 and 4

So my idea is to take her out for a great evening (she lived a very sheltered life)

- xmas day - framed pic of us ($20) with a handmade invite and tickets for:
- formal night (01/02/10). suit and cocktail dress attire
- nutcracker ballet by national ballet of canada ($130)
- high end french restaurant (she's a french teacher) ($150-180)
- ??? (seriously, need help here..)
- profit

what do you guys think? too much/little/lame? appropriate for a xmas gift?

Edit: It's more then the scarf, but it's something we'll both enjoy together and will be memorable.
