Default Need new hiking boot suggestions

I'll actually be using them for work in a welding shop, but traditional steel toe work boots have never worked for me. Too heavy, too stiff, and the steel toes always pinch.

Must be light, high topped, and all leather.

I've been wearing Hi Tek Raniers for the last several years, but they had changed them some when I bought a new pair last spring. I'm pretty sure that they're a big part of the reason that I've been having so much trouble lately from a knee injury that has left me alone for years.

Aaaand.....GO!

Georgia Boot makes a boot called the flex point with comfort core. I refuse to wear anything else. Its steel toed but its the most comfortable boot I have ever worn.

They make them in a non steel toe version as well IIRC.
I beat the **** out of them and the only problem i have is wearing down the sole from normal everyday use/age.

I've found Asolo makes a boot that fits me perfectly. I'm on my third pair now and wouldn't consider anything else (just hope they never change their last).

O2, are you a firefighter, or am I remembering that wrong?

The price is in my range on the mid-top, non steel toe Flex Points.

I drive a truck locally. But I also deliver oil, fuel tanks, paint, mow, everything that an Oil company would need to do. I love the boots, my feet never hurt and they hold up fairly well. The waterproofing works decent, 99% of the mornings i am walking thru dew covered grass and my feet stay dry.

Gotcha.

They look decent, and like I said are in my price range. The Danners look too work booty, and are getting a little expensive.

I had problems with steel toe boots as well and really need them for work. I went to Red Wing and got properly fitted with a pair of Worx steel toe. They are wides so the toe doesn't pinch on me or anything. I spend 8 hours on concrete, up and down ladders and stairs, as well as squatting down.

http://www.redwingworx.com/order/5660.htm

Red Wing Shoes knows how to properly fit and they can pretty much tell you if a boot will be comfortable for you or not.

I had a pair of Red Wing fireman's boots back in the day, and they left a bad taste in my mouth (IBstopeatingyourworkboots). IIRC, they didn't come in the half size that I needed, and the sales talked me into them anyway. I had to wear that I'll fitting pair of boots for two and a half years with thick socks before I could afford to replace them.

Get yourself a set of military leather linemans boots. Steel toe and shank, all leather, pretty comfy.

The Asolo Powermatic line looks really nice, but they're all well above my price range.

I've been really happy with Rocky Mobilites. Tough, grippy, waterproof (kind of a must, here in Oregon) and super comfortable. I also like the wide toe box.

Rocky's a division of Georgia Boot:

Those look pretty nice, but, is that synthetic material in the tongue?

Since I'm a welder, anything that isn't covered by my pants leg, with the exception of sole material, must be leather or else it'll get burned up by falling sparks and slag. I have to keep extra bootlaces in my toolbox, as they regularly break from being melted.

My previous pair of boots had to have the placket where the eyelets go resewn three times because the stitching kept getting burned off. I don't do as much heavy structural work now.

Get danners. Expensive until you realize the boot will last forever. One of my pairs has had three soles on it and they are still going strong. The second set is for after bootcamp.

My current ones are a few years old and it looks like they've changed the styling a bit. I would guess the 200s would be the replacement for mine.

Sierra Trading Post has last years 300s for cheap if you don't mind red and they have your size:

Why VpointVick don't fireproof lace?

How about these? http://www.workbootsusa.com/th6lisatoe.html

The soles, however. Difficult to compromise.
