Default gc8 Turbo Timer Installation Help

Alrite, i followed to instructions on scoobymods.com on turbotimer installation but it doesnt work. i have a greddy turbo timer and the install is for an hks but i figured it would be the same. anyways has anyone done this for a 2000 gc8 by tapping into the ignition wires? i have the steering column opened up and i see the wires but i dont know which ones to tap. for some reason both the voltimeters i have dont seem to pick up the voltage.. also do you think the wrx harness will work with our cars?

I don't have a answer for you, but I do have a Blitz TT harness on order for my RS-T. I think that the ignition harness on the WRX matches that of the RS.... waiting to find out...

that was my feeling when I started messing with my RS.... Subaru typically re-uses as much as they can, as long as the design fits....

I bought the HKS harness that is avaliable for the WRX for my Blitz FATT-DC. It works, just ground all the wires you wont use like the hand brake option etc.

Additional note from Jewbaru on getting the alarm to work with the TT.

Quote:
Remove all the lower dash trim, etc, so you can get to the alarm. The front of the alarm has all the inputs listed, the one you're looking for is 12v ignition, I think it's #6. Next, snip the wire a few inches from the harness, and you're set. I'm working on figuring out a way to have the dome light function correctly, but haven't gotten to it yet. I'm thinking connecting a relay to the Key in Ignition sensor would work.

The dome light will come on when the car is disarmed, but because the alarm never see's ignition, it doesn't turn the light off when you turn the car on. No big deal, I use the light to time how long I let the car warm up.

I just got the Auto Timer from Apex'i......will those other harnesses (Blitz, HKS, etc.) work with this timer and on my MY02 RS. Where did you guys get yours from? Do I HAVE to have a harness to make it work or just the easiest way. Thanks.

the harness makes things alot easier. it makes it so you dont have to vampire tap the wires from the ignition. even if the harness doesnt plug up to your tt, you can just splice the wires. each tt has the same basic three wires going to the ignition. the rest of the wires your gonna have are the ebrake, speed sensor, and ground and those all go to the same ecu pinouts as other tt's

I have an HKS along with the WRX harness and it clipped right in. I have yet to have wired in all of the other little features that it does though.

Thanks...thats kinda what I thought wanted to make sure....think I'm just gonna use the 3M taps I bought at Wally World.
I read the Install post on Scoobymods.com that allows you to use the keyless entry........does that same wiring scheme allow the factory alarm to be armed while the car is in after idle??

Last my TT has the 3 ignition wires obviously, but then the only other wires are the grey E-brake one, and a black and white one that wire to the ECU at the ground and the O2 Sensor input(I'd assume I'd use the front O2 sensor since it's gonna give the better signal for the A/F function) respectively. Anyone know which pins these are on the ECU on a MY02 RS, or where I can find that info. It'll work if I just tap all these spots with the quick-taps right? Just wanna make sure that the ignition harness doesn't do anything weird and that the TT just recognizes that the key has been turned and then re-closes the circuit to keep the engine running for the preset time.

Now, if you guys have the keyless entry and security options, you need to cut the following:

1. keyless entry module above fuse panel, cut dark green/black trace wire and tap it.

2. Security system module cut the gray wire and tap it.

That's for the 2000 RS. May vary in your cars though.

Ok a little more help ...last time with this one I almost promise.
Decided to not buy a harness and just tap into the lines. I have the lighter blue/darker blue ignition harness. I need to know which of the wires on my Apex'i Auto Timer taps to which on the factory wires. I'm attached now....got cold outside and called it quits for the night..... but when I start the car I can turn the key to the run location (where it rests after you crank it) and push the clutch and the timer will start my car for me.....then it proceeds to count down. Everything is normal ....shuts off with the handbrake, shuts off when the key is out and the timer runs out, alarm kicks on while it's running....however if I leave the key in it runs out the engine stays running, the unit turns off, and then it doesn't keep running when I turn the car off. Obviously I got a wire or two backwards or wrong. Anyone know which wires in there are which.
My unit has a:
Red wire (12v+ constant)
Blue Wire (IG2 Output)
Green Wire (IG1 Output)

Which do these meet up with on the Blue Harness it has
Solid Black Wire
Black w/ yellow stripe
Black w/blue stripe
Black wgreen(not for sure) stripe

I can't be far from it just would like any suggestions that may be had.

my00 and up all use the same ignition harness. So yes it is the same as the WRX. Save yourself alot of headache and get the harness. The blitz harness was only $15 so the hks one cannot be much more.

How much did your harness cost? Where exactly is Altered Atmosphere? I may have to go down there before I get my TT in the mail this week.

Default greddy tt

i have a greddy tt in my 99 2.5 and wired it up with out any harnesses

on the back of the key cylinder count clockwise from top left around: 1 2
3 4
you tap 3 wires but not the #3 wire. red from timer goes with #1 wire. blue from timer goes with #2 wire. green from timer goes with #4 wire.
as for the speed indicator and e-brake sensor i haven't done that yet.
alldata helps alot

I picked up an HKS harness for a WRX and it doesn't work with my car. My connections have 6 spots but only 4 wires and the harness is 4 with 4. i'm gonna take it back and see if they can get me one from an early GC8, which I think they can.
