I have seen about 3 customers from my dealer get their WRX's stolen. Consider Guide Point GPS tracking system similar to lo-Jack. You can track your car online from their web site, live.

You call them up when its stolen and they guarantee to find it with in 24 hours, or you can track the car yourself and it will tell you exactly where it is parked...

Seeing the damage from the 2 cars that were recovered at my dealer, its worth a look.

Also, if we start posting how they got stolen, then anyone monitoring this board will know EXACTLY how to steal them. Keep it in PMs other than to say your car got stolen and the location. IMHO

From it looks like allot of the cars stolen from here are ending up in East Orange. Now that I know, any Subarus coming into my city at night will be stopped or the plate ran. I am off now, so when I go back I will let my comrades in blue know about the problem. So maybe we can catch one of the suspects and find out how they are taking them and for what reason. I will post the results as a pm to McDade. It has been awhile since I was on the sight. I appoligize because I have seen a few STi's and WRX's run through my town without knowing this. I have seen a company called url (www.PowerLock.com) www.PowerLock.com

Car thieves don't need to know how to steal them, duh..
It actually even helped me device a better alarm system in addition to my lojack in my car. My car was stolen in Newark ( was driven and parked by a friend or former to say the least)
It was found only a few blocks away. Our theory was it was driven for a short distance to minimize exposure and covered in a lot, went back to it when all was clear and started stripping it. They need aftermarket parts for subies which is a hot sell right now.

POST ALL THE DETAILS YOU CAN! I'm in that area every other day and would be happy to catch the theifs and put them where they belong! behind the bars that is....

I understand that your upset but the kids that steal these cars have nothing to lose so making good use of your firearm permit would probably put you in alot of danger. I live in E.O and know alot of these kids and they don't think twice when they are in danger or leading chase. You'll have more to lose chasing them then they will. Just leave it up to auto squad.

No, I don't really know anything besides they are the only one allowed to chase stolen cars. Also, they are known for there aggresive style of catching them. They are ruthless ,that's why alot of times when the cars are caught they are messed up because of auto squad raming them. I remember there was one time when some kids stole a car auto squad ram them and broke like 3 of the kids backs.

While waiting for my tires to be installed was reading a local Union paper mentioned the guy that got busted in the stolen Subie in Clark back in November is up on 29 counts of auto theft!

He was from South Plainfield and of all things this thief's first name is Angel! (don't recall the last name)

Woah, this is HUGE news!
Do you happen to recall the name of the paper it was in? I can have someone pull the arrest records. I'm guessing this arrest is the main reason why its been so 'quiet' lately.

Can't wait to post a message with the mug shot and info on Angel!!!

OK Friday was a long day and I geuss I misinterpreted the charges - maybe not 29 thefts but still a 32 count scum bag.

Quote:
The Star Ledger Friday, December 5, 2003 - Page 39, Column 1

Man is charged with 29 car break-ins

South Plainfield:
A Plainfield man has been charged with breaking into 29 cars during a three-month span, police said yesterday.

Angel Cruz, 23, was charged with 29 counts of burglary to motor vehicles, and two counts of eluding because he twice sped away from police who broke off high-speed chases, authorities said.

Police said Cruz was arrested Nov. 23 in Clark, where officers stopped him and charged him with driving a stolen car. Details of that case were not available yesterday.

Cruz was held yesterday at the Union County jail in Elizabeth. Bail on the South Plainfield charges was set at $25,000.

Forgive me, but where is the subaru connection? This looks like a smash and grab crime spree, and not GTA.

First as I stated while I misinterpreted the article Friday when I read it I thought the counts were thefts - but he was arrested in a stolen car originally so there is the GTA. Additionally, my recollection of the original arrest was that the stolen car he was originally arrested for in Clark was a Subaru...

Pull the Clark records and find out.

Clark seems to be the only department that can catch them though: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=448213

I assumed the topic would be of interest to people but if not - just let me know Jay and I will delete the posts. Personally I am interested in anything going on anywhere around Essex county with cars and crime given the spree we are suffering as it may well relate to ours even if the news isn't Subaru.

Default 2 car thieves less on the street

http://www.news12.com/WC/topstories/article?id=96927#

checkout the video clip, there's a segment where one of the two suspects is videotaped in the ambulance.

Anyone recognize him?

Thanks Mike.
If this car gets recovered in good shape, I'm going to try to send my friend your way for some anti-theft stuff.

Some more details on the car itself - the car's a SEDAN, bone STOCK, AUTOMATIC, but as I said before, the dead giveaway is the Spongebob license plate frame.

Stabbing holles into the headliner. Calling card? Or like a dog that he is, leaving its mark?

Otherwise, what's up there?
