Exclamation Intercepted Memo from SOA. *READ*

This was part of an internal memo that we got our hands on from an reliable insider at SOA...

Quote:
We would like to host a special Subaru consumer event around the Rim of the World rally. Something special for our owners - a central area for them to meet, food/hosting at service areas, meeting the drivers, transportation and/or activities at spectator areas, etc. We are having an outside travel company develop some ideas with Prodrive. We will involve Western Region as
well. If we can put something together, it could be a lot of fun and the
start of a great annual program for our owners. I'll keep you up to date.
I'll keep you guys posted if I hear anything else. But this is very reliable info! Wish I lived closer to the Rim Rally!

Phil Pausmer is the SCIC hookup from SOA West that keeps us up to dates on these things and he's assured us that Rim Of the World is not to be missed. This seems to back up what he has said nicely.

It's May 3 & 4 this year, here's some info from their website.

Rim of the World, Round 4 of the SCCA ProRally Championship, is a performance rally: flat-out racing on a stage-by-stage basis, with production-based, street-legal cars and trucks run at one or two minute intervals rather than wheel to wheel. Competitors race over the grueling, unpaved, dusty fire roads of the Angeles National Forest just north of Los Angeles, which makes for exciting views for both spectators and workers.

Rim, presented by Subaru Western Region, is one of the toughest, most challenging events in the series, which duplicates the world rally competition so popular in other countries. Yet, at the local level, ClubRally is easier and less expensive to get into than most motorsports.

From: http://www.rimoftheworldrally.com/

I went last year and it seriously was the BEST time I've had in years! me and most of the SCIC "Bad Boys" will be there this year. You should come down! you won't regret it!

But seriously, Subaru really hooks us up with the Schwag:

Here's what I've gotten for free in the last year:

2 T-Shirts
2 hats
dozens of pens
lots of mints
A really cool "Subaru" hunting knife (now property of the New York Port Authority Airport Security Division, long, embarassing, story)

I've also gotten almost as much junk from Mitsubishi who's at most of the rallies handing out stuff, I even got a 1:43 Model of Makinen's 1999 EVO6 for free!

We all got a bunch of free stuff at the small meet we had at Sno*Drift in Michigan. SOA just happened to show up, even though it wasn't publicly known anywhere but I-Club. Both Lovell and Lagemann came over and chatted for a bit. I think they'd rather organize things and get a bigger turnout.

News Update:
There will be a VERY special guest at the rally. I have no confirmed names yet, but it will be someone you all know very well and is quite famous from the WRC.

Really wish I didn't live so on the opposite end of the country now!!!

Thumbs up The Rim Rocks!

We went last year. Put the first 1000 miles on the Rex going down. (Return trip was alot quicker.) Had a great time. Our brand new WRX even got a special parking space at the press event.

Charity rides on the special stage in front of the hotel were fun. Pat Richard was dialing in his new car. We had a blast!

We'll be back this year.

Subie Gal, are you dreaming or wishing?

Seriously if your coming to the Rim May 3-4, make your reservations ASAP. The Holiday Inn has been sold out. Pull up the rally website for alternate hotels within a 5 min walk of rally headquarters and all the action. It will be a BIGGIE!

last year we had something like 20 Imprezas parked at the Motel 6! Also, the balcony at the Motel 6 is just about the best spot to watch the first stage, it's where we got the famous EVO Rollover Video last year!!

That's too far for me. Do you think if I organize a "Rim of the Flat State Rally" in Delaware, SOA will come here?
