Default Subaru Interchangeable Parts list

I wish there was a list somewhere on nasioc that gave a run down of basically parts that are interchangeable between different year/model Subarus. It'd take a long time to do I think, but it would definitely help a lot of people out. Anyone agree?

This is a great idea! Since I've done work on my 01 GC8 and my wife's 02 OBW Ltd, and a few cars at my garage day, I'll start a bit.

WRX brakes = 02 Outback Wagon LTD brakes...front and rear.
WRX, 01 RS, OBW Ltd brake pads and calipers f/r are the same. Caliper Brackets on WRX=OBW ltd. Swapover for RS involves just the brackets and rotors. (rear backing plate on the RS must be removed)

RS springs fit on L struts and lower the car about 1/2 inch.

I'd still like to know the differences/interchangability between springs/struts on RS, WRX sedan, WRX wagon, TS sedan, TS wagon.

i'm curious about the WRX to GC8 interchangability. i know the engines swap with out toooo much hell. but what about suspension wise? i'm looking to overhaul my sad sad my93 L suspension, and it's kinda hard finding RS suspension parts.

anything that will fit a WRX as far as front brakes (complete kit) will fit on a 96 L. I just did mine rotors, calipers, brackets, pads it all replaced the "adequate" braking of the L.

oh yeah, and exhaust systems that fit the RS will fit the L (minus the headers)

I've also noticed Mitshubishi parts in my engine compartment. I wonder how well Subaru/Mitshubishi parts interchange with each other. I've noticed that their parts seem to be a little lower due to them being a larger car manufacturer. Could make for some useful info.

I believe Mitshubishi makes the whole engine for subaru.

Mitshubishi, friggin huge they make parts and engines for practically everybody, hell they make practically everthing, I wonder if their a bigger co. than Honda over in japan, or world wide? They may not be as big in the US but they seem to have a hand in everything world wide

forgive my ignorance; i bow before the almighty specialists...

what about using performance parts for imprezas on a legacy?
there's no love on the web for the legacy. it's an impreza's world all across the internet. i have a 96 legacy engine model EJ25D. i've seen the same number come up in impreza discussions, just w/o the "D". same model? same specs?

I believe they're all Nissan switches/handles/controls, actually. It's very possible that they're used in Toyotas too.

What parts are interchangable with the "older" Foresters?
I have an '01 that I would like to upgrade the suspension and brakes-

What struts/spring will let me lower ride height and improve handling?

What brake components are inter-changeable? Supposedly the older gen impreza parts?

Please help!!
thanks,
modh

This is a n00b forum, and n00bs don't know that!!!
Now DO they???

This is how mis-information makes people mis- informed about Subaru's and these are the kind of things that come back and bite you in the ass when people start thinking the wrong thing 'cuz some idiot said it here!!!

You may know it, but THEY DON'T!

OK, OK, but there's a big difference between some switch gear and a horizontally opposed 4 cylinder engine, hehehe...

Anyone know what "other year/model" parts will bolt onto a MY93 Impreza L Wagon? I've got to overhaul mine (over 203,000 miles now) and none of the auto yards around me have any 93 Imprezas (go figure!), only legacies and the occasional dead mid 90s impreza. Please help!

I doubt that, different lobes for each.. not to mention that they are completely different part numbers on the catalog.. I cant imagine a 2.0 litre motor can suck up the same amount of air and still use the same compression ratio and make similar power..

Heres the list EJ engine into a chassis with EJ engine = yes (heads, trans etc...)

Suspension, everything pre- GD Impreza and SG Forester will swap into each other, except 00+ Legacy.

Post GD Impreza SG forester = interchange.

Subie's are Legos.
