This is a regional event, and you'll see a number of people coming in from out of town (even some from out of state!). Our objective is to put together a fun event that can be enjoyed by everybody who shows up.

There's no charge at all for anybody and everybody to come out to MotorSport Ranch on the 15th to mix 'n mingle and participate in the various activities. The only "event" at MSR here that costs money is the "Track Event" itself. Of course, whatever you want to spend on food and such, that's up to you.

This will be a great event for import / tuner car enthusiasts, we welcome both Subarus and "other" imports to come on out for the day. (Shoot, if you're coming in a domestic or a truck or whatever, come on down, you're quite welcome to join the food, fun, and festivities.) No need for pre-registration, just come on out and enjoy. You won't want to miss it. Mark that day/weekend on your calendars and plan to attend.

Note: I'm simply serving as the volunteer "Event Coordinator" for all of this. I'm doing it because I enjoy cars and spending time with other people who enjoy cars. Neither myself nor any member of my family is making any money at all here, nor will we place our names in the hat for any of the fabulous prizes, either! I just wanted to be sure everybody is clear on this point.

That sounds like a very good price! I've never been on track but sure want to try it! Spring time sounds good, I'll start saving. I'm sure we could find enough cars for the event.

That sounds great! My car should be all sorted out by then and that price is better than the "sport Compact Car Challenge" that I attended a while back. I'd like to ideally have my WRX done and my 240 track worthy and swapped and see the differences between the two cars on the track. Pretty sure I can get friends to come to this one too.

I would recommend that you make this primarily a Subaru event, but open up a few slots for other cars to make sure we meet our minimum. The RX7 club has done a couple of these events with great success.

I've taken part in 2 of them with my WRX. Having a mix makes it more fun. The Rx7 club ussually says that for the first 20 slots, it is open rag (Rx7 and others). After the 20th car, only Rx7s. Seems to work pretty well.

Wow, there's a lot of interest in this, indeed. We've already got 16 potential entries, depending on the date selection and such (afritz, Bankheist, Blugin, brickdawg, DarkShadow, dazz1, gmflex, GoodFinder, John C, Jon Martin, LinuxRacr, nickgomez, Rodan, subie2, Torch, and wagonbeast, so far), and that's without even firming it up and announcing it for sign-up yet! I'll touch base with the good folks at MSR and see what dates in the March and April timeframe might be available, and confirm more of the event specifics and logistics and such.

OK, here's some more information on getting this set up. We can probably do it either the 1st, 15th, or 22nd of March. The initial information I posted is pretty accurate. (We'd be looking at a 20 car minimum, and a 30 car maximum, in order to ensure enough track enjoyment, and not be too "crowded" on the track.)

The $95 per person figure would be the actual amount we need to (in one lump sum) hand over to MSR in advance payment. They are not set up to take the payments directly from each participant, so they would want one of us to be the collection point on that. Unless you want somebody else to do it, I'm happy to handle that part of the logistics. I'd probably use PayPal as the payment engine to make it easiest for everybody involved (especially me), and you'd have to "trust" that I would really handle your money properly.

They would have normal track operation / supervision during the event, as well as normal EMT safety crew right there on standby. The "rainy day" policy would probably be that it would reschedule, rather than a refund, but I'll find out for sure on that in a few days.

I'll talk to Hart Photography (http://www.hart-photography.com) about arranging for them to be at the track to take pictures. This would be an "extra charge" item, but I can tell you these guys are well worth it. They shoot pics at many track events, and their work is top-notch. The folks at MSR like them and they allow them to set up at various track locations to get really great shots. In other words, yes, we'll all be taking our own pics, but it will be from the spectator side of the fence, not with us out there on the track. At any rate, I'll get specifics on this point and report back to you soon.

Also, another option, if we want to rent the upstairs meeting room there at MSR, we could have somebody cater food in for us to all eat together after the track event. But, of course, this would add some money to the total cost, and it might not be something everybody wants to "require" each participant to spend money on. Having said that, it'd be pretty cool to have some "hang out" time after the event, to talk about the experiences and observations, and just mix 'n mingle.

So, to net it all up at this point, we're all in the "discussion" and "idea" stage here. It's gonna be our event, to do it the way we collectively want to do it. I'm just "the facilitator" here, in this particular event idea.

Let me further know what you think about all of this.

Just got off the phone with Hart Photography to discuss this. If we do it on the 15th of March, they can be there with the full crew and trailer, which also means they can get the prints and everything done right there on-site. And, they'll be able to come out and do the event without any payment in advance. Which means, we're able to keep the "up front" participant fee to the lowest dollar amount possible, and then for those who want to buy some pics, you can do that, it's between you and Hart Photography.

You can go to this URL (http://www.hart-photography.com/Moto...s/msr2002.html) and click on some of the initials under the "RX7 Focus Day 11-30-02" section to see a sampling of pics (they took a whole lot more pics than what you see there, it's just a sampling ... be sure to click on the "AF" set of pics at the URL to see a good looking WRX in action!).

So, how does the 15th of March sound to y'all?
