Cool Big ICE for this weekends RallyX!

Sunday is the last ice event of the year for the SCCA RallyCross crowd. This time it will be on the Big Lake since the motorcycles are done. 6 laps combined time. If you are stock or just have exhaust and suspension mods you would be in PGT class (basically a Suby mini meet!). Under hood mods would put you in Open class. RE 92's are fine, snows are better, studs would put you in Exhibition class. Lots of horsepower is not necessarily good on ice!

Try to get there by 9 so you can walk the course and get teched. First car off at 10 am.

Helmets available.

Best drive from Denver is 85 to Sedalia, take 67 south to Deckers, go left and continue 13 miles south on 67 to Rainbow Falls sign on left of road, 2 miles to lake. 60-90 minutes depending on your driving "style" from south Denver. From Colorado Springs go to Woodland Park, north on 67 for 10 miles, turn right at the Rainbow Falls sign.

If you miss this one PPSCC will have an ice solo event the following Sunday.

See you there!

Default Snow?

Todd,

Did it snow up there? Are you coming? Should be fun on the BIG lake. Last chance to run before you get your STI!

Hehe...I'm still keeping the wagon. Now that my wife is hooked on driving the wagon, she has to drive something better than the Rodeo.

It is snowing big time up here as I type this. 3 inches so far. But, I stopped for gas in Woodland Park at ~430pm and it was just starting to change from rain to snow there...so hopefully they'll get some down at Rainbow Falls.

Hopefully we'll get a few more bands of snow before it clears up.

I probably won't be able to make it Sunday, my in-laws are coming into town tomorrow night and my wife will be working that morning.

Then again, maybe I'll be able to sneak away...that big lake sounds fun.

It was a tough decision, but I decided that I should go autocrossing because I am going to be doing a lot of it this year at national events...

If there is any snow or nasty weather Sunday morning, they will most likely cancel the autocross, and I will head for the hills.

Weather update:

I was in Woodland Park tonight at about 6pm and it was just starting to snow. It had been snowing since about 2:30 in Divide and we have 5 inches of new snow. In case I can't make it tomorrow, I did plenty of donuts in my favorite parking lot.

Thumbs up Thanks for the updates.

Sounds like it will be just right at both locations tomorrow. Keith, I'll bring your trophy down to Coors if you will still be there around 3-4 PM. Todd, know all about the in-laws. Looking forward to the drive down there!

Nuts- I just remembered you were doing this just now. I had finished my work assignment early and ran in the first group, and got bored watching and went home. I'm sorry if you went down there just to bring that to me.

How was the event today? I think I managed to come in 3rd, which is a lot harder for me with stock suspension on pavement than it is on ice.

Keith,

Don't worry, I had several people I needed to talk to and hooked up with them. When I heard you ran in the first round I figured you must have left early. Are you going to the PPSCC next Sunday? I could bring it then.

The ice was sooper slippery and started cracking at the edges. They ended up cutting back to 3 runs each. Largest number of entrants all year. Todd was that you I saw breifly on the hill while I was out on the ice?

Most of the excitement happened on the way there and back. I was following two sets of tracks in the snow on 67 and both went "off"!

Found the culprits in the parking lot. No serious damage. On the way back I was the "sweep" and found the Ford Festiva rolled!

Saw the tracks that someone had picked him up and later found out that he was OK. Car totalled.

Maybe we should wear helmets on the road and not on the track.

Ugh. Well, that's as many runs as we pavement pounders got (but we had something like 180 drivers, with multiple cars on course at once).

Good to hear he's okay. Too bad about the ultra rally machine . It was a very funny car.
