The MRT turbo-back system with dual-tip muffler fits your description. Nice sound, not too loud, substantial power increase, stock looks. All the top turbo-back systems are in the $1,000+ price rrange.

FYI - None of the cat-back systems will give you much of a power increase. You could do a cat-back, plus a downpipe, if you want to mix & match.

As mentioned above the twin pipe MRT unit looks almost like stock at eye level. It's not as loud as the STi Muffler (just deeper) but is louder/deeper than stock. After adding their turbo back unit I literally had to adjust my UTEC maps because the performance gain was too much, re-adjust boost mostly as it added 2.5-3psi and best was the turbo came on stronger and sooner (and stayed peak longer as well). Matter a fact the peak stays so long that I had to fake the turbo into spooling down at 6800 rpms (VF34) because I could not feel the power letting off and I would go straight to 7K without realizing it.

(I don't have any online pics of this unit on my car, if you want one mailed to you let me know)

check out this test of 12 WRX exhaust systems ...

http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0212tur_exhaust/

My twin pipe Stromung exhaust ... down-pipe back ... is surprisingly loud. I've been told to forget about adding an after market down pipe ... it would be way too loud ...

You'll see it on their website here. They have been very good about replying to questions I had via email if you wish to get in contact with them for specific info.

http://www.vividracing.com/prod_exturbo.php

note the first two entries are for the MRT turbo back system and they go into a little more detail of the system..

This doesn't have much effect on managing and tuning the engine (i.e the forum title).

Next time try Dress-Up and Style or FFI,

Thanks

"Exhaust systems" don't seem to have a real home of their own ... when I posted an exhaust system question in General ... it got put over into Aftermarket Forced Air Induction?

but I understand what you are saying since the originator mentioned "looks"

I have the Stromung 3"single tip and 3" dp back on a Perrin DP w/cat and it seems to be just about right. Nice, low, burble at idle and a bit of noise toward the top. Great low end torque, and much broader power band. Before I put the turbo back on, I never used 5th gear in town, and 4th on a rare occasion....
Now I use 5th quite often, and have to think of using it, because I never did before.
Just my 2.

Does anyone know anything about the Cobb exhaust? I sounds like a good deal; light, powerful, mild looks, etc. Any opinions?

It's just a cat-back system, priced mid-pack. It's well made and has a decent exhaust note. You'd need to pair it up with someone else's downpipe/midpipe, to create a complete system.
