Good comment in the web site there - the journalist noticed the body was shining very well, and asked if they polished the car for the photo shoot. Surabu said "well, did you notice? we have used much better paints, and upgraded the sheet metal to make the shell." That may resolve lots of paint problems we have today!

Wow!
Can someone photoshop a wagon pic to give an idea of what the next Baja will look like? |

awesome indeed.
Now we need to find out what version is coming to the US and specs. 270-280hp will be very nice and possibly more reasonably priced. The STi version will rock. I hope it makes it to the US for 2005MY. Perfect time to trade in my WRX ![]() Cheers Nick |

The redesign is just incredible. It looks so much better than the rumored pictures. My biggest complaint is no option for green paint. I love my Timberline Green and have received so many compliments on that color.

Is it only me, or does the "New" Legacy look like a bast*rd child of several different cars on the market?
![]() Front end -> Mazda 6 & Honda Accord Euro-R Front lights -> hybrid cross between the Acura 3.2TL and BMW Rear end -> "Audi A4-ish" (the sedan's trunk lines) Rear Lights -> "Honda Civic Coupe -ish" Don't get me wrong, it looks nice, but it gives off lots of other styling cues. |

Given some time, it will create it's own identity and you will immediately identify as a Legacy instead of searching for examples of what it resembles. |

Layman - All the designers of cars made in the last 5 years must've been coming from the same design school
![]() In anycase, it's nice, but definately not as unique as say the GC or the BD/BG. I guess I'll have to pick up one of these after the 1st year bugs are worked out here! Unfortunately it doesn't look like it'll have a 6spd though ![]() So for the mean time, looks like I'll keep my BD's & BE |

Also I've heard a rumor from a moderately well connected source that indicates we shouldn't discount the presence/possibility of a 6-spd yet. From what I hear, we shouldn't read too much into the specific details of the JDM release. The car we get will have the same skin, but there will be some differences available under the skin! ![]() However this is now 3rd hand rumor, so take it with a grain of salt. -- Bill |

Six-speed, shmix speed. I don't know that the car really needs one for driveability, especially if the gears are tall (think speed vs. acceleration) like the WRX's. I don't want a buzzy, high-maintenance six speed that necessitates a lot of rowing to stay in the sweet spot. I love how tall the WRX's gears are. Fourth, for example, seems to go on forever (or until the police catch up).
I can't see anything wrong with that car, except that it isn't in my driveway already. Kevin |

Aren't the gearing even taller than our WRX 5 speed?
![]() -edit Okay, just saw the 4.44 final drive - I guess that'll help a bit. Last edited by bemani; 05-23-2003 at 11:51 AM. |

Of course, everyone knows my predilection for wagons. My WRX is paid off, but I'm not going to grab one the first year, in case STi comes to the party with something really cool. Then again, I might not be able to restrain myself.Any price speculation? I would guess upper $20s to around $30, just south of the STi. There's no way they're going to be able to sell that car for anything near the price of the current-spec GT, IMHO, unless some de-contenting goes on, which would be a bummer. Kevin |

I really love that metallic periwinkle color. Although the exterior is absolutely beautiful, it's the interior that's really blowing me away. The quality look to the materials, the fit and finish, and the features (electroluminiscent gauges, seat fold down in the rear, great McIntosh stereo system, etc.) all have me drooling for this car. Has anyone done the conversion to see how much larger the new Legacy is vs. the old one?

It's gorgeous, and I will own one, period.
![]() As an aside, the WRX didn't get anyhintg even close to this good of a reception when it was unveiled, and that says something. The interior is beautiful too ![]() |
