Question Clearing 04 headlights

Is there any way to clear the 04 headlights on your own??
I know that you can buy the JDM ones for like $600, but its there any DIY kinda mod?

I am going to take one of mine out this week (if I get a chance) and see if I can get the amber reflectors out. I will take pics and what-not if I get a chance.

you're going to have to heat up the housing w/ either a heat gun or by putting them in the oven. Probably be easier to put them in the oven and then pry the housing apart. Then take out reflectors, put back in housing to melt glue again, put back together, and for added saftey put silicone around the edging so the headlights won't fog up. This is a good free mod...

I am not sure that will be necessary for the 04s. It looks like they have several small screws that hold the lens to the headlamp assembly, and a small gasket to keep the elements out.

He's saying they might just have lock tabs to get them apart so you won't have to heat them to unseal it like you do on the previous models. I'll check mine out tonight as i wanna do this as well.

I'd be very interested to know if the 04 lights just unscrew. That would be a great piece of mind vs putting them in the oven.

i really hope this is true, that would be great if you didn't have to heat em... a couple of screws could be all that is keeping me from orangeness!

I'm going to do it tomorrow night for sure. I would be doing it now but for some reason my 10mm socket has gone and disappeared. I'm heading to the store tomorrow at lunch to pick one up.

Just from visually inspecting it, it definitely looks like it'll just screw apart. There are a number of horizontal screws on the top of the light that appear to be holding it together.

It also appears that the orange lenses are held in by just a few push tabs... looks easy to remove.

I looked through the service manual and there's no description of taking the lights apart, just taking the whole assembly out and changing the bulbs. So i guess we'll have to find out the hard way...

Can you guys tell me how to remove the headlamp assembly from the car? I got the two 10mm bolts off... and it almost seems like it wants to come out. What else is holding it in?

Just read your owners manual.

You need to pop the grille off. There's 4 tabs that you press down to release right on top of the grille, then two on each side that you stick a screwdriver down through the little cut out to release. Then you'll see there is a white piece of plastic also with a 10mm bolt holding it down.

I'm going to take pics of the whole process tonight or tomorrow if someone doesn't beat me to it.

Awaiting Brahmzy's report. =]

Well, I did it!!! I did not get a lot of pictrues because the process is exactly like the headlight mod for the 02-03 cars. The only difference is the number of screws you have to take out before you bake it.

I like the cleaned out look a lot! I do have a pic or two of the finished product, but my buddy took the digi cam home with him. I will get them from him tomorrow.

Anyone know where to get the sliver coated bulbs? I would like to keep the amber turn signals...

Nice, you beat me too it. I wasn't prepared for the silicon sealent, so i'm gonna do it later. I've got a ton of shots of how to get it all apart though, so once i do i'll do a nice write up. Maybe tomorrow night if i get ancy.

So the bulbs underneath the orange reflectors are amber?

All the bulbs are clear. I want to keep the amber turn signals, but dont want the amber color in the headlight (i just spent 2 hours getting the amber out!!)

Yeah, I do not have a garage either. It took me about 2.5 hours to get them out, prep, bake, seperate, clear out, re-bake, put back together and get them back in the car... It really does help to have a friend to hold the lights as you pry them apart after baking.
