Default Anyone from the Staten Island or surrounding area?

Hey, started a thread over on clubwrx.net to see if there are any other WRX owners in the area that hang out. I see a decent amount of them out cruising around once in awhile and I wanted to meet up with everyone one day, mainly because I'm the only one of my friends with a Subaru (so far) or a WRX for that matter.

As Dave mentioned, I'm out in SI - Great Kills area. Nice to "see" more people from the island on here.

Enjoy the car!

SI is great, but i couldn't move back there - the commute is too much for me now. i refuse to deal with the ferry's schedule and the 2 hour commute

but i do miss living there.

2 hr commute? Where you work? Takes me 55 min tops to get to downtown.

i work up by 23rd and 7th avenue. getting to work in the morning was like clockwork - leave the house at 7:10, Annadale train station at 7:26, catch the 8:00 ferry, hit Manhattan a little before 8:30, pack into the 1/9 train up to 23rd street and walk a block to work by 9. After 9/11 the commute got a little longer because i had to take the 4/5/6 to 23rd and walk 3.5 avenues to get to work.

coming home was different - i would have to rush out of work to catch the 1/9 train in hopes of catching the 6:30 boat so i could get the express train home. if i missed the 6:30 boat (as i usually would by 3 miinutes - just in time to watch the doors close) i would have to sit there and wait another 15-30 minutes for the next boat to leave.

what ever happened to the Fast Ferry? it was that hydrofoil boat that would bring you into midtown in like 15 minutes

Yeah no one wanted to pay the $6 each way for the fast ferry

I'm lucky I work right across the street from the ferry terminal, although now working 2pm-10pm I get the 10:30 or 11pm boat and usually drive over to the ferry terminal in SI.

On fridays when I work 8-5 I catch like a 5pm or 5:15 boat and then the express train

that's cool - and other than Fridays, you get to avoid the horrible crowds waiting for the ferry in the morning

Mike,

Sorry about that- you would think I couldn't read or something
For some reason I had it backwards - 8-5 M-TH, 3-11 Fri.

Next Friday would be good. Next question - where?
