Default Blue/Gold STi stolen on 9/26

My 3 week old STi was stolen from the parking lot of the office complex where I work in the north end of Bloomfield near the Brookdale ShopRite on Friday afternoon 9/26/03. I saw it at noon and when I left to go home at 5:30 it was gone. No debris of any kind at the scene. The ploice told me there was a witness and that another car was stolen as well. I had the Subaru alarm armed and it was of course locked, but they got it anyway.

Mine was the other car stolen on Friday, nice to finally meet the blue STI on the other end of the parking lot, too bad it was under these circumstances though. I'll drop you a message with my work number, I'd like to talk to you about this.

My STi WRBlue/Gold was stock but did have etched glass.

Glass etch number WAS12741788

It also had a JVC HU mounted in the lower DIN slot other then that it was stock.

2002 WRX WRX stolen from Short Hills mall parking lot, broad daylight around 5:00pm on 8/4/03. Found 2 days later in East Orange. A lot of cosmetic damage but nothing major. Car was at the dealer/body shop for 7 weeks, insurance screwed me over pretty badly and I wound up paying for my car to get fixed instead of my turboback and reflash.

Almost all of the cars stolen in NJ have wound up in East Orange, I know of at least 5, maybe 6 so far.

Exclamation Found!

My insurance company called yesterday to inform me that my car was found on September 29.

The Maplewood PD has it and I'm heading there this a.m. to pick it up. No idea of the condition yet.

Default "Recovered" I will give you two guesses where...

Well car #1 went to Irvington, so of course my poor wagon ended up in Newark. Just got a call from Hanover PD won't know more until tomorrow after the detectives go to the impound. I don't even know where it was impounded.

Any chance they take stolen cars to impound on flatbeds?

Recovered... yeah right like you could ever recover.

They flatbedded mine to the impound. This was in East Orange. Sorry to hear about the latest cars, that brings the total to well over 10 since mine was stolen 2.5 monts ago.

My 4 month old 2003 WRX wagon was stolen on 9/03/03 from my driveway in West Orange. It was found 2 days later in Newark on Stuyvesant Ave. They removed the aftermarket wheels and replaced them with Outback sport ones. I'm still waiting for the car to be finished at the bodyshop, $6K in damage total, most of it cosmetic.

I didn't think anyone would steal it, lets just say I will make VERY sure no one drives it away again!

Getting your car stolen sucks, it makes you wonder why you bother paying thousands of dollars in insurance when they just rape you when you actually need it. Oh I remember why, it's because the insurance lobby made insurance mandatory....

If anyone finds 17" Kazeras on their recovered "Newark/Irvington edition" Scubie please drop me a line

Well I finally 8 days later got the car released.

The frame damage didn't look that bad - but the fire department determined the fire started because of the accident.

There is no hood at all, everything not metal in the engine compartment is melted and a good deal of what was not thick metal is also melted. There is nothing left in front of the radiator (including my EDM LHD STi lights) but melted material that is unidentifiable. Radiator - melted, strut bar and strut mounts -melted, tires - melted, windshield - melted, everything in front of the rear seat from the radio up burned/melted. Nothing recoverable - nothing useful in the glove compartment but it was empty.

What has me concerned is how what looked like it might have been not that bad an accident resulted in a fire and there was no witnesses or suspects identified???

Oh well it is just suck, fortunately I can't even recognize the car as mine so at least I didn't feel sad- just angry.

can we keep the disicussion limited to information on stolen cars only.

Please use the other active threads in the forum for discussion pertaining to anti-theft devices etc etc.

thanks

My girlfriend's blue 2003 wrx stolen 10/9 from Bloomfield, recovered in West Orange next day with minimal damage to bumper and ignition popped. Still in shop waiting for ignition, I have connections at the body shop and they still can't get the parts...Andy

Argh!

They tried to steal my wagon AGAIN last night, same guys for sure. Broke the ignition again, thankfully I have disabled the car so they couldn't drive it away. Time to get medival on their ASS!

Does anyone sell OEM Subaru stuff at a discount for enthusiasts? I really don't want to shell out the $280 my local dealer wants for a lockset. any links appreciated.

Hey everybody -
My friend's black '02 WRX was stolen from Belleville yesterday.
If anybody sees it, please let me know.

The car is extremely dirty and has a "Spongebob Squarepants" rear license plate frame. (Hey - it's not my car!)

Thanks!
-Vin

Default Update

The cops recovered my friend's WRX last night.
It was in East Orange, and it was involved in a hit & run w/ a station wagon fo some kind, but the damage to my friend's car is probably not enough to total it out. They stole some stuff from inside his car and messed up the headliner and the console.

This is what gets me though: They left the freaking screwdriver they used INSIDE THE CAR and the cops didn't even look at it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but one would think that they would take that as EVIDENCE!

Well they tried to steal my wagon again tonight around 8pm, 3 black guys in a black 4 door Nissan or Maxima.

This makes the FOURTH time in 3 months they have tried to steal my car. I would have made them eat lead for sure but I was in the bathroom when the alarm went off....

As I have only one garage, one of my cars has to go. If anyone knows someone interested in a 2003 Subaru WRX wagon or 2001.5 Audi S4 please drop me a line. Both vehicles are immaculate with very low miles. Must sell due to hoodlums!
