Default Something that has to be tried

Well, I discovered today that a Stock WRX exhaust is too short by six inches to bolt up to a scoobysport downpipe that is mounted on a highly modified Legacy Turbo. I also discovered that the rust holes in the exhaust that came with the car wiere so bad that it literally fell apart when I took it off. So right now, the Legacy is running a downpipe from the turbo...and that is it for exhaust.

This makes for a very...hmmm, interesting sound. I also discovered that running like this it will suck the paint off of an RSX Type S when the Legacy goes past it. I won't elaborate on that any further.

It is the same Legacy Turbo that we picked up for Elizabeth in September. Highly modded and will run 13s at 12 psi. Sweet car, needs a little work, but all the important pieces have under 10,000 miles on them.

Talking

If mine was road worthy yet I would try it! My exhaust sounds similar to yours, I think I'll loose more parts of it as I hit bumps it's so rusty!

I'm keeping a log of my progress here: http://home.earthlink.net/~opiewho1/LS.htm

Should be on the road the week after Thanksgiving!

Looks like Opie is making some good progress with his Legacy. I will just be glad when Elizabeth's has all the little nitpicky stuff fixed. The car runs great, it is just little stuff that causes our exasperation over it.

If I know Kent well enough, the nitpicky stuff would be swirl marks from poor waxings and a faded dash. Yes, I am sure you will have that Legacy looking showroom new before too long.

On a sidenote, how's it going bud? Everything going well for you and Elizabeth?

JASON!!!

Good to see you man. Things are going great for us. Elizabeth is a few months away from getting her masters degree, and the WRX is beginning to take shape now. We hope to see you around more often.

Yeah... That way we won't have to fix the huge rust hole from where the sunroof drains!

Actually, the car weathered New England winters and so the hood needs repainting (as does the spoiler, of course), and there are a dozen or so little dents on each side. Looks like someone shot it with pea gravel. But it sure is purty where Kent has polished it - the red flake in the paint is starting to show (or maybe that was just the WRX reflecting off the black paint...) I took the pinstripes off and we've fixed what we can with the paint, but there's no hope for the hood or the *%!# fiberglass spoiler.

I like the way it drives. Honda boys don't understand why I go faster than they do, and they are very puzzled. After all, the picnic table on the back of their car is supposed to add at least 40 hp, isn't it?

Alrightly....fess up...just how many of us are hoarding Legacy turbo's in the SE?

I know littlepest, E-beth, Fernely and I have one...you get(ting) one too Matt?

Templar & E-beth...does your rear wing actually still have paint on it? mine is bare fibergalss! I think I need to send it up to Wayner to give it some proper attention!

If anyone has a spare tan/beige leather steering wheel, parking brake handle & auto shifter for a 90-94 Leg they'd like to get rid of...let me know! Mine's a little worse for wear.

Templar has the WRX (which I can't drive) and I have the Legacy (which he won't drive). Why can't people get that right?

And it's not exactly a Legacy Turbo anymore, either... It truly is a Frankenstein:
-car has just over 170K on it
-engine has just over 10K on it (yes seriously) with mobil 1 ALWAYS
-headwork done by Import Machine: multi angle valve job with radius, full port and polish
-parallel fuel rail setup
-lightweight pullys
-intake manifold and heads ported and polished
-Exhaust studs to manifold Heli-coiled for strength
-manifold cool-tec heat wrapped (faster spool)
-intake manifold chevy red (+5hp!)
-WRX TD-04 turbo
-93-96 WRX intercooler
-samco hoses on intercooler
-coolant lines removed from TB
-scooby sport 3" downpipe
-STi 5MT trannie with 4:44 gear set
-custom 4:44 rear diff with LSD
-WRX shifter with Kartboy knob (knob now on the WRX after I blistered my hand on it)
-WRX rear diff urithane bushings
-STi trannie and engine mounts
-STi 4pot brakes
-KYB AGX struts
-DBA slotted and x-drilled rotors
-Whiteline 22mm f&R sway bars
-AUtometer boost Gauge
-APEXi turbo timer
-98 RS gold rims

Had a custom 2 3/4 exhaust to Flowmaster muffler, but it's now in rusted pieces in the Dumpster, I think.

Yes, the spoiler still has paint on it, but the faster I drive it, the less there is. Especially if it rains.

Indeed....

Sorry, this is the first time I've had to get to a computer today. Took Becky's wagon for a service and detail. Been a looong time since I've seen it that clean.

Well...the '92s didn't have a driver's side airbag, so the lister could be incorrect, however I'm curious about a few things:

1. speedometer is in Kilometers. This car could be from Canada, but there's so little rust, someone must have taken incredible care of it.

2. the LE badge. I've never seen a single USDM Legacy turbo/touring wagon with any of those badges on it.

It is seriously cool though...I'll call Geico tonight to see what the insurance would be like.

Seriously cool car.
