Talking CHECK OUT WHAT I JUST GOT (feared by 56k, but worth it)

yep folks, I am in SUCH a good mood.
Picked this baby up super early this morning. It is a '36 Chevy Master. Come on, doesn't it look EXACTLY like a gangster car ?
Motor is a I6, and we think that it is of a newer model, but it supposedly runs and drives and all. However, that is gonna all change when we get done with it. We have a LT1 (from a '93 Z28) for it, and either gonna use the Z28 rear end or a IRS Jag one. Then Mustang II front. 4 wheel disk, the works. Gonna turn out REALLY nice.
Body is of excellent shape. Interior is kind of apart, but all there. Only thing we need to really do right now is the front doors. The guy took apart the whole wooden frame for the door and cleaned the doors all up and all. Painted all the inside of the doors since he was there, and never got any framing back in. So, the front doors (especially the driver) has almost no frame at all, so it is very flimsy. No problem, just need to make a frame or something and it will be good as new .

lots of pics :

front/passenger on trailer

rear/driver on trailer

front

rear (notice only one tailight)

the tailight. It is actually fiberglass. It broke a while ago (according to the guy) and was just hanging there by the wire. Are going to definetly replace this with 2 really nice LED lights

the I6 in there right now

pics of the Z28 (the donor car). A lot of people have heard me talk about this, but we bought it wrecked. Stripped the thing down completely (as you can see), and have just been having a bunch of fun with it for right now.

and a picture of the thing sitting in our 5 stall garage . Aint it purty?

OT, PLEASE DISCUSS

Nice!!!!!

Other than swapping the mechanics out, do you plan on keeping the looks of it stock or "modernized"?

for looks, kinda want it gangster lookin, but just want to keep it clean and cool above all. Will get rims and tires of course. However, the rest of the body we will probably keep stock. Except bumpers. We own a welding shop, so full stainless bumpers are going on front and rear. Also, for running boards, we have a few ideas, but probably gonna go with stainless over the stock ones or something. Will kinda take little stuff like that as we go.

That thing is going to come out NICE!!!!

Keep us looped of your progress.
Make it in to a stret rod.

Chop the top, stretch the grill, pull the front fenders and repalce the front end with IFS and then build up the front end like a Deuce, tub it, with a five link in the rear on bags and you could have a fuelie style sedan on your hands. Killer!!!

Did I mention that I'm drooling...

no, we definetly can't even chop the top. Jeez, it is chopped enough as it is . We wouldn't be able to see out of the stupid thing if it was chopped. Plust that is opening up a whole new can of worms (that we don't wan to do). We probably aren't gonna stretch the front or anything that big. We really want the body to look kinda stock. However, all that gold has to go . The Mustang II front end we are gonna put on there is IFS and rack-and-pinion. It is kinda like the universal set up for all the hot rod guys. Gonna probably gonna get like a 2" spindle drop kit for it and a 5 stud GM style bolt pattern kit, and it will be good to go. Oh, and we are gonna build this thing to handle like a mutha, so no tubbing or 5 link suspension here. The most we will go is the IRS from a Jag.

Nice with HID's and painted, very, very black. If that came up behind me, I would definitely be afraid.

Triumph Daytona 650. It has a sidecar that goes on it, but we have to switch out motors in the very new motor so we can get the stock one rebuilt, so we had to take off the sidecar for now. My dad owns like 4 of the old Triumphs on the street, 5 in pieces, and 3 as racebikes

Thumbs up

Awesome find. Old school gangsta. My uncle purchased an old ('37 I think) Studebaker pickup truck that was just sitting in the grass in the back of a farm. He's tubbed it with 24" tires in the back. It will be mid-engined with an extremely radically cammed twin turbo Cadillac Northstar V8. He has a sequential 4 speed rear trans-axle that it will be mated to. The front end is a rack and pinion from an 80's Corvette. He's going to put hydros up front so he can lift the front up to drive it to a car show and then slam it to the ground once he gets it to the destination for show. He has all the parts, the only thing that is taking a while to do is all the fabrication. He's toying with the idea of putting a little motorized minature guy with a headband on riding a bicycle under the hood so he can mess with people that want to see under the hood. Imagine you pull into a gas station with this radical sounding old hotrod pickup truck. Some kid asks if he can see under the hood, he pops the hood and there's this little guy riding a bicycle under there.

Yep, my uncle is crazy. Should be a bad mofo if he ever finishes it.

Very nice... I've been contemplating a 4-door hot rod/custom for some time. There's still some great old iron out there too.

I'd say wait on the top chop. Lower it (maybe with bags) paint it an outrageous color, stuff that motor in it and just drive it...

BTW, did you make it to that Turkey thing car show at Daytona over Thanksgiving? Incredible machinery, great for inspiration.

guys, the thing sits really low. Actually looks chopped enough when it is lowered. Might toy with bags on all four, but we dunno. We just want overall driveability, cruising, handling, and comfort to top all for the drivetrain.

We have been going to a BUNCH of the car shows in the FL area. Have seen some really cool stuff there as well . But, we have been looking in all the Auto Traders/Antique Car Trader/Bargain Hunter mags for about 6 months now. Didn't know EXACTLY what we wanted, but we found this and the price was definetly right. Jeez, I still hump the fender when I go outside to see it

the manual brakes (that don't work) and 41 bhp engine just aren't cutting it.
