Exclamation Everyone with a GC8 read this

I found out two things last night about our gauge clusters, you cant remove the green film from the gauges and make it look good and you cant just replace the gauge clusters with red LED's. Randi and I have been working on it with no luck but if we find something that will work we will be sure and let everyone know.

If anyone has any other ideas please let us know.

It can be done. Do a search for about a year ago or longer. I believe "Bankheist" was making kits to change everything to blue. Its not just a simple bulb swap, but it can be done.

Wow, I quickly became famous around here

Guys, I'll take some pictures tomorrow night for you all.

Here's what it takes:

A lot of patience
A dremmel tool
And a colored underlay that I suppose I can start making again for everyone.

In the past I simply made underlays cut to work on the gauge face. I sold a bunch of them. But I wasnt happy with the color over a few weeks. It appeared to "aqua" to me. So I decided to go bluer. This involved a much more involved process that the average user probably wouldnt want any part of.

So, I'll show you what you have to do, then I'll let you make up your minds

HAHA ,cool, i will check back on this thread tomorrow morning...i have been looking into reverse glow gauges for my car, but none of them look good to me, as i wanted just the lettering/numbers to glow blue, not the immediae area around the needle as well, this will soon prove to be one of the better mods i plan to do !

Bankhiest blue lights! woot woot!

I had the kit in my 2000 RS

you have to realize there is a green film behind the gauge face, so just messing with the bulbs isnt going to change to the color cause it will diffuse through the green film, and make some funky colors.

I have seen much of the Heist approach firsthand as well as seen the evolution of the "kit".... Heists lights were cool (man... I can't really remember the last time I saw them.... the car has been down for 10 months now).... I would love to do this type of thing... but I would want red/amber lights like my old car (un-specified because the TXIC guys give me a lot of crap about it).... but that is just me... amber is easier on my eyes than vibrant blue.
