PWN3D "Legitimate" buyer interested in my Legacy!

This nice man contacted me about my Legacy that's for sale. Other than his poor sentance structure and incorrect addressing of the message, this looks good huh? Is there anything I can do to screw this guy?

Paul

Quote:
Hello Ebay,
My client has viewed your car in the ad,and have confirmed the car as his kind of car. Moreover,he has finally accepted your price,he hopes the engine is
serviced and oil changed too .He cant wait to see the car parked in
his garage.

However,My client made out a certified cashiers check of($13000) before
he travelled to japan on a business trip, for a previous car and its
shipment charges etc,but it was unfortunately sold. The amount on the
check he deposited for the car is bigger than what should be paid to
you now, so the check is now meant for the total expenses which
includes the purchase of your car,the pick up of the car from its
present location and the shipping charges/other necessary shipping
arrangements. However he has instructed us to carry on with this
transaction. So you're required to deduct the cost of your car
($7000)and send the balance of($6000) to my client via western union
money transfer to enable him offsett shippingcharges/arrangements.once
the transaction is concluded,My agent will be coming for the pick
up

of the car from its present location, on an open vehicle and then
drive to a pre paid shipper for shipment, and also conclude other
necessary shipping arrangements.so you dont have to bother yourself about the pick up and shipping
arrangements, while title papers and other necessary documets will be sent by you via fedex courier to my customer.

Please Confirm this and provide name, address and phone
number for check payment to be delivered to you via
fedex courier .

Thanks and have a wonderful day.

Gee I haven't heard that one before ......

You'd think that they would at least change up the canned responses a little after a little while.

Lol. Might wanna report that to some authorities. Or you could just take his phony check and never respond to his emails or phone calls ever again. Dunno what you could do with it... maybe frame it and stick it on your wall?

No problem. Just send the car Western Union and have a reputable tow company pick up the check.

Doesn't this scam usually involve much larger amounts to be "handled" as a "courtesy" to the credentialed (in another dimension...) party???
Why does this sound familiar yet sketchy? Duh.....

Talk to some "legitimate" businessmen, see if they can help you out.

The Navy put out a message to us about this kind of "racket" Stay away from it, they come off looking honest by giving you this money, but making you send some back. I don't remember how this exactly benefits him, but I think it might be some sort of money laundering or something related.

They use fake cashier's checks. The bank reclaims the money deposited into your account, and you're out the amount that you mailed back.

Tell them that you have another interested party but you'll hold the car for a $1000 deposit.

Yes, I know about the scam....just trying to think of ways to scam them back.

I know.....tell them that you're laid up with a broken back and can't cash checks, so please send $13k in US postage stamps.

He's using a UK yahoo account, so the headers don't tell me anything useful. I think I'll report it to Yahoo and leave it at that.

Call your local FBI office, Secret Service or US Postal Inspector (I'm not kidding) and see if they are interested in pursuing the scammers. They are probably overwhelmed with similar complaints and don't have time to deal with this, since only the offer has been made, and no transaction has actually taken place. More likely, they'll tell you to ignore and delete.

I would not recommend trying to scam the scammers. Could be some really nasty folks and they might be closer geographically than you think. I'd say ignore and delete.
