Default 2000+ Legacy cabin filter dimensions...

Howdy!

I've read the threads on home-made cabin filters and want to make one, but what are the dimensions of the filters? (believe there's 2 of them for 2000+ Legacies and Outbacks)

If someone has them on hand to measure or can post a picture of them besides a ruler, I would greatly appreciate!

Nicolas

Noone seems to know so I'll post what I found out...

I do not know the size of the OEM filters but the available space is as follows (all in centimeters, don't mind the proportions of the "drawing"... ):
Code:
       | 20.5 cm |
    -- ---------------------------------------_ --
       | |
       | |
       | |
 15 cm | |
       | |
       | -------- 21 cm
       | |
    -- | |
        \ | 11 cm
  6 cm \ |
            \ |
    -- ----------------------- -- --
       | | 10 cm | |
        5,5 cm 5 cm
Based on the measurements above I built a cardboard box to fit the available space and can insert a filter in the box.

I have to say, I am a moron. O_O I decided to vaccume out the little area where the filter goes, and in the process, accidentally vaccumed up one of the little retaining clips for the outer cover. ~___~

What kind of filtration matrerial did you use?

Hope you can open the vacuum cleaner's bag...

And I used 3M Filtrette 1000 BUT will use 3M Filtrette 1200, which looks like it could be used as an engine air filter! Not much more expensive and catches smaller stuff...

BTW, posted pictures in the other thread...

Actually, it was a shopvac, so I did get into the bag. O_O There was some nasty stuff in there, I will spare details.

I used a magnet to find it, and then pull it out. Didn't take too long.

I'll go down and check out some filters. There is a little guide track for a thinner filter in mine, I might try making a little frame and putting something thinner in it.

I could just jam and wedge an engine air filter in there. I don't know if I can get this one to fit, though...
