Default Post your BIG HP setups<----------

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a 2004 wrx. I am looking to do some serious mods to make a decent amount of hp.

I noticed that there are a lot of guys on the forums with 300+awhp wrx's. I am very curious as to their setups, so if you are one of them please post (post some pics if you like)!
I am looking for a set path to go by for my upgrades. So letís see what you have.

I havenít found a thread yet dedicated purely to the setups of higher hp wrx such as stage 4 turboxs's and beyond. So I figured I'd start one. If someone finds a thread on nasioc or other Subaru forums/sites regarding big hp wrx setups please let me know.

Thanks

search harder! There's a ton. and 300awhp is not a lot here. 350 starts the higher numbers.

I'm running low boost, 17psi vf22 @ 280whp 293tq, another lb or two i'll see 310.

here's the crap i got

Suspension
Tanabe Pro Sustec-SS Coilovers
Tanabe Rear Pillow Ball Strut Mounts
STI Front Upper Strut Mounts
Cusco Rear Sway Bar
Rota 17" Gold SDR
225/45/17 ContiSport Contact

Performance
EcuTek
Perrin Pulley
JDM STI Recirculating BOV
Turboxs Stealth-Back (Downpipe, Midpipe, Hi-Flow Cat)
Prodrive Axel Back Exhaust
Helix Flex Uppipe
Gruppe-S Manifold
Perrin Short Ram Intake
One Step Colder NGK Platinum Spark Plugs
Walbro Fuel Pump
STI Injectors 550cc
VF22
Perrin Fuel Rails
Perrin Front Mount Intercooler
Goodridge Stainless Lines
Bobcat Front and Rear Pads

Other
STI Fog Covers
Apexi Turbo Timer w/ Blitz Harness

get suspension / exhaust first then do other stuff

This setup made the infamous not 400whp pull. 399.3whp, 344.6trq on C16, 23psi of boost. The turbo will do 30psi.. the stock block won't.

The only suspension mod I have front and rear strut bars, and Tein springs.. just to hold the front end down from all the torque because at 100mph+ in 4th gear, the front end lifted so much I had trouble keeping the car in one lane..

As far as engine mods go, stock block/head:

FP Green, ported 7cm housing
TXS FMIC
TXS UTEC
ECUtek Reflash
TXS turboback with RFL muffler
Perrin fuel rails
Walbro fuel pump
Modded stock injectors
Perrin BigMAF intake
Tial 38mm external wastegate
AVC-R boost controller
HKS BOV
GT spec gen II headers w/ uppipe

And I think that's about it as far as power mods go.

On pump gas we ended up with 319whp, 289trq @ 19psi of boost, too low timing, and very rich AFRs. The car is much stronger since the last time we had it on the dyno, so I have no clue how much power it's putting down. I ran an EVO that put down 326 and I pulled him in the top end.. our 4th gear (which is horrible and long).. so if I had to guess.. I'd say 330ish.

On pump it pushed out 330whp & 290wtq, with a 11.0:1 AFR, car drives fantastic and pulls like a beast.

I am getting a Rallispec 2.5L longblock with JUN 272 cams and T67 Turbo on a 8.5:1 CR, that should pull like a monster, and aiming for about 420-440whp on pump.

I'll be the first to say it. Sell or return the WRX and go get a STI or EVO. You will end up spending at least $5k just on the engine to get much more than 300 whp. I'm not even considering all the other things that you'll need too like suspension, brakes, new gearset or box, etc.

I did a little desk top dyno thing that goes by type of car and it said 335 WHP before management and fuel, but I don't hold much stock in those things. I just hope it all holds together long enough to make a trip to St. Louis and see what kind of power it truthfully puts down.

257 w/ stock heads, v7 6mt, FP Green, hacked injectors, Greddy r-spec FMIC, UTEC...

Not too different from a lot of folks above, but not high hp. Had about 3 wks to road tune before I had to store it.

It's looking like recruiting command for me when I return from over here, so I'll be coming back to the land of the AWD dyno (Hawaii, where I'm based out of doesn't have an AWD dyno.)

I may very well buy some v.8 heads & cams before I return so they would be waiting for me to install.
