Default Mach V Dyno Day July 17, 2004!

Come to our first dyno day at our new World Headquarters (also known as the Ultimate Performance shop) in Sterling, VA.

What: Dyno day at Mach V

When: Saturday, July 17, 9am to 5pm

Where: 45064 Underwood Lane, Sterling VA, 20166

Details: The day will be broken down into 40-minute slots, which you'll reserve by calling us and giving us your credit card info. (Sucks to have the staff out for a dyno day and nobody shows up, y'know?) First come, first served on the slots, so if you're thinking about it, call sooner rather than later. Cost is $75 per slot, plus $25 if you want air/fuel exhaust gas analysis. In 40 minutes, you can usually get a car strapped down and have 2-3 good runs with some cool-down time in between.

I'm also inviting our local Evo customers, although you Subaristas are the first to know.

We look forward to seeing you.

What provisions (if any) do you have in place for optimized intercooler airflow? CFM of the fan used, placement, etc would be useful information.

Also, what type of dyno is being used?

Thanks!

It's an AWD Dynojet.

We'll be getting more fan firepower, but what we have now is a 48" tube-style fan. Dunno the CFM.

Is it in any way ducted to the intercooler, suspended over the car directed at the IC, or is it simply sitting in front of the car?

The reason I ask is because I had my wrx dyno'd at Curry's in Dulles and they had a large size fan in front of the car and it basically did nothing for IC flow and as a result much detonation was heard in all but the first run.

It sits in front -- keep in mind it's over 4 feet tall. We'll be working on some ducting for the Subaru hoods, but I'm not sure if that will be ready by next week. We may just use an additional box fan for the hood, a la TurboXS -- who knows if that'll make much difference, but it can't hurt.

Have one of the employees act as the "fan man" during runs. And have him point a fan at the IC. Ghettho but effective

Hey Dan, are you sure you don't carry GC parts?? I'll trade you my copy of MapPoint for a new flywheel or something -- I think you need it more than I do.

Dan, you think you will be doing another of these this year. I want to get a baseline for my car at this one, if I can make it. I have a bunch of stuff waiting to be installed and I'll need another dyno to see the improvement. What are your normal prices?

I'll run if I can get my car fixed in time. How many slots are left?

Who's bringing a stock WRX for me to compare to?

Let's see who can beat my Evo!

Assuming this goes well, I'd like to have a Subaru dyno day about once a month.

WRX coolant tank and new IAC valve don't get here until next week (wednesday) and I still need to relocate my battery, and learn how to solder well enough to solder a FCD into my ECU harness so I can run all 15psi for more than 3 seconds before overboost fuel cut kicks in.

I'll try to make it, I'll at least show up and watch the fun (if I'm not working).
