In regards to Opensource... http://www.enginuity.org/
Very insightful information. Although, in order to successfully tune your own car with OpenSource I suggest you research this method as much as possible. Tuning without proper knowledge can be very dangerous. |

honestly the absolute best way to learn IMHO, is to buy a UTEC/tuner and start there. You get a very good EM system, that is without a doubt the absolute easiest to learn system, and you will learn the basics. By the time you have mastered the UTEC you will know 9832187392 times more than you do now. And if you work at it, you can be a UTEC guru in a year or less.
Dont get me wrong, a hydra or reflash will teach you, but the ease of learning is a lot less. Last edited by Davenow; 06-18-2007 at 12:27 PM. |

I have used the UTEC and now moving down the reflash path. I can not imagine having to tune with out Jeff's UTI software. The utec interface is less than desirable and can take a long time and countless logs. In fact discovering UTI made my life easier. Agree?
I was interested if there were sources out there or people willing to spend quality time for a fee to give a class to teach and answer questions in a format other than Nasioc or other forums. The learning curve is long for a beginner like myself and I have found real technical support lacking at times. I sometimes get a amused with " take it to your tuner " as if one exist around the block. For many of us our only option are these forums and teaching ourselves on a long learning curve. However, it is very rewarding once you reach a goal. Someone that could take a day or two and explain the interfaces and changes being made would increae my learning curve rate 10 fold. |

UTI is great, but I sometimes still prefer the default UTEC logs.
If you have been tuning the utec long enough to understand its 3 main parameters and how they relate to and affect each other, then you are going to be ok with a reflash, just take it slowly. You can set the "knowledge level" in enginuity and I believe that limits your options (in other words, gives you less to screw up, and easier time going forward as a newbie on it.) |
