oil drain plug
i was wanting to put in a new drain plug with a magnet on it. would it work (will it be hit by the crank) and what is the thred.

Read the Oil FAQ sticky at the top of this forum. Magnets on the filter or drain plug are 100% useless due to filtering and the fact that heat makes magnets crap out over time.

Sure it will work, but anything large enough to get caught on the magnet will get caught in the filter, too. Speaking of which, did you know you can buy a magnet sleeve that fits around the oil filter? That way, everything metallic that's already caught in the filter will get sucked to the side. Amazing waste of money.
