Default Gutted uppipe and no CEL

I just gutted my 03' WRX uppipe and I didn't get a CEL from the O2 sensor in the car. I plugged it w/ and bolt and the sensor is sitting in my tool box. Does this sound right to anyone?

It might take some time for it to come on. I know when I did my uppipe, the CEL didn't come on right away, but after a few hundred miles it did.

A little FYI. That wasn't an 02 sensor you removed.

I just got done with it and am really tired, so give me a little slack. At least it's done though, right? It feels good to finally have it done and no longer have to worry about it. Thanks for all of the help guys!

sometimes it shows up, sometims it doesn't. if it shows up, there's a cheap resistor mod that you can do to prevent it from showing up...

No, not running the EGT usually sets off a CEL. Easily defeatable but still, normally a nice glowing light on the dash!

Easily remedied by a resistor or some EM. Mine kicked on while it was still up in the air, then we remembered to put the resistor in place.

Depends on what you have for tools i used an air hammer be very carful we put a hole in my up-pipe from it and had to weld it closed and it took about 30 minutes but by hand maybe like 2 hours or more

It took a few hundred miles for my CEL to come on after gutting mine.

The resistor fix is super easy and costs about $1.00

Yeah, that's the way to go. Swing into Radio Shack, spend a dollar, plug her in, and never worry again.

I put about 1000 miles on my car before the CEL came on.

I started it at 1 pm on Mon. and finished at 3 pm Tuesday. Now that includes generous breaks and of course sleeping, but it took about 2 hours to get it out (pulled the manifold and lifted the motor), 6 hours to gut it and then 1.5 hours to put it back in. All in all I'd say it's much easier to already have an uppipe ready to go so you don't have to worry about gutting it at the same time.

yeah it should only come on when egt's get really high, that typically only happens on a stock car on the highway

Yup. I have one gutted and polished, ready to go into my '05 as soon as I get my lazy arse around to it. Took about 2 hours to gut it and make sure the inside was spotless.
