That's just an illusion. For some reason that person has the cover removed from the cutout. See here: http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/cp_...p?partid=22532 |

The one I posted earlier appears to be similar to the less expensive versions that are available from Hidden Hitch and Curt, although it's tough to be 100% sure using the available photo: But this one is definitely something different, and it's the one I was interested in. What the heck is that round hole with the slot and small holes around it on left? |

Probably the attachment point for a 7-pin trailer plug, so the trailer could use electric brakes and reverse lights.

Thanks for posting this write-up! I had been thinking about doing exactly the same thing. A friend of mine has had the Thule T2 hitch rack for years which he loves, but he urged me to consider a 2" hitch with one because he feels that th 1 1/4" mounted rack flexes and moves far too much with 2 bikes on it.
One question for those running an Impreza with a hitch-mounted rack like the Thule T2: how is the ground clearance? To get into my garage I have to back up a rather steep driveway and I am wondering how much of a pain it is going to be with the rack mounted or even just the hitch! |

Are there any hitches out there that do not require any modification to the frame of the car? I mean that including filing, drilling or any other kind of frame alteration. Thanks!

When I put a hitch on my Focus, I refused to alter the body of the car to make the bolts fit, so I just removed a small amount of material from the bolt heads until I could squeeze them into the slots. I will do the same for the Impreza. Grinding the slot to enlarge it just invites more rust, unless you seal the edges of the slot after you enlarge it.

I run that exact setup ( I have a 2012 2.0i, with a curt receiver, and the Thule T2. With the rack down and 2 bikes on it, I have to be careful going up and down driveways or into parking lots (I go slow and angled), but I haven't had a single issue yet with scraping. Great rack by the way too, I've been using Thule stuff for 13 years and have been super happy with it all. |

You do not need to file you just need to fish the bolts through and then tighten up everything

Has anyone spec'ed out or tried the 2" Curt hitch for the XV? Appears to be identical other than the 2" receiver. It's a Curt 13135.

2013 Impreza Hatchback needs 2" hitch
I've just bought a 2013 Impreza Hatchback, in fact, I haven't even picked it up yet.
I'm not looking to tow, but I do have accessories for my current vehicle that fit a 2" hitch. Any ideas what I can do to put a 2" hitch on my new Impreza? All I've found so far are 1.25" Thanks Jim |

The OEM tow hitch for the XV is installed by removing the original bumper and sliding additional supports into the frame tube. If you don't want to enlarge the holes on the bottom, you could take the long route and send the bolts through here when installing the Curt hitch. |

Anyone towed a 12'-16' aluminum boat with their '12 Impreza? Just curious to hear your experience with that, as I am boat shopping but lack a truck. Just my trusty hitchless Subi...

XV Hitch on a Impreza Sport
So I've had my XV hitch on my Impreza Sport for a bit, just an update for anyone interested and a related request for help. The hitch is great so far, surprisingly it has yet to bottom out even though it looks quite low.
Unfortunately the dealership attempted to install the XV wiring harness but said they could not do it, something about 5 pin vs. 4 pin. I have to wonder why it can't work since it is plug and play for the XV. Anyone have any suggestions...? jd |

XV Hitch on a Impreza Sport
The dealer gave me the car back and said I was "all set". It was daytime and I drove off assuming all was well. When it was dark later on I turned on my headlights and got a lot of the idiot lights on the dash turning on and off at random including, hill hold assist light stuck on, cruise control on and off randomly (light only), traction control light, etc
Went back the next day and the dealer disconnected everything and said it was backfeeding and blowing fuses. The XV hitch fits and looks great, but I do not have a wiring solution yet... |

Do you have any pictures for this? I might want to go this route too. However, I see that you still need to trim the bumper for this. |
