Angry Well it finally happened to me today.

I was approached by a WRX owner after giving him a thumbs up and he asked me the question(s).

"Is that a WRX?" I replied, No, it's not, it's an 2.5RS.
"Does it have a turbo?" No, the RS is N/A.
"Is the hoodscoop aftermarket?" NO! it's stock.

After these three stupid questions I walked away. His car was nice looking, He has some nice wheels and all but he looked well . .ummm . . like a typical 19year old WRX owner. One of those guys.

He doesn't deserve to be driving his car if he knows nothing about the history of the Impreza.

I think that people should be tested before being able to buy wrx's so they can learn and will not ask idiotic questions.

its called corporatizing a cult car...(not really i made it up)...but face it everyone...what regular people know of subaru is...the WRX turbo and thats about it....take pink floyd...lots of people dont know they had music before dark side of the moon...the nfl was 2 different leagues...afl and nfl merged in the 60's and thats how the superbowl was born

thats almost as aggrivating as talking to the salesmen at dealerships. last saturday the salesman i was talking to told me that the used 2000 rs they have in stock has a factory turbo. how the hell do they sell anything when they dont even know what they're selling.

Talk about a oblivious!!!
You could have been driving one of the earlier model WRX's an schooled him.

"the salesman i was talking to told me that the used 2000 rs they have in stock has a factory turbo."

That's pathetic

They shouldn't have him anywhere near a Suby.

I had some BAFOON! ask me "where did you get that awsome body kit for your CIVIC?"

I wanted to beat him back into his civic and push it off the Pineda causway!!!
I think that is the worst one i have gotten so far, well that and the typical "well how come you didnt get the WRX? It has a TURBO!"

i am EXTREMELY dissapointed with every Subaru rep i have met. honestly, i hate making generalizations, but i have yet to meet one that knows half of what i know about subarus.
at west herr subaru i asked if they had any STi exhaust systems available for me to check out and all i got was "no STi products will be available until the wrx is released in a couple months." grrrr.... how can they not even train the people who sell the cars on their specs...at least?! i guess we can all say the reason is because the people that are buying rexes these days themselves dont care about the car, theyre in it for the hype!

Well my story is more funny than anything else but i was parked out side mcdonalds the other day and some old shot guy comes up to the table that me and my friends were at and goes is that all you guys with those nice cars out there we were like yea ok we guess so.. then he goes and who has that awesome blue subaru WMX we all looked at each other and laughed and i said that would be me. I told him it was imported direct and he was amazed. too bad all he had to do was look at the interior to see its not RHD.. oh well he was shot like i said and it kinda made me mad that he called it a WMX its not even a WRX at that.. oh well..

Hey, c'mon! There are some of us who appreciate the history of the car. Don't write us all off.

And Subie Gal! You're one to talk. Racing a WRX wagon.

I wave at RS drivers all the time and get nothing back.

not saying all wrxers are alike but a lot of them don't wave to me. I have gotten a few back but most of them were from little old ladies and people I know.

Honestly, everything I've learned about Subarus has been on this forum. The WRX is my first Subie. The thing I like most is that there isn't this elitist attitude like you find in the BMW and Porsche ranks. Maybe there are some WRX snobs, but they aren't the majority.

Yeah, the WRX launched Subaru into the limelight. But that created excitement about the brand as a whole. More sales, more aftermarket demand and maybe lower prices. It's good for everybody. Isn't it?

well at least its not driving a honda. i used to own a 2000 integra gs-r. i had nothing but respect for other integra and civic owners with a nice ride. i would flash my high beams or wave and i would always get back a nasty stare or middle finger. oh and being stopped at a light they would always try and race. maybe once or twice they would accept my thumbs up or something. but to sum it all up a lot of honda/acura drivers in the LI area are a bunch of losers who think they are all bad @$$.

NO kidding, I was so happy to get rid of my civic. Honda guys have like ZERO street camaraderie. I like to drive fast, but every other ricer out there thought I was trying to race.

so far no friendly encounters while driving around in my RS, but I do get some looks.

Personally with some of the grill mods I don't think it's as far a stretch as one might think

I once had a guy at a gas station tell me (after he looked at my wagon for a while) he thought that AMC had gotten their act together and was FINALLY making a decent looking GREMLIN.
