Good places to get tints at in CT?
Anyone have any reccomendations on places in ct to get a good tint job? I've been to tintmaster in hartford in the past and had an average experience with them I'd say. How's Mr. Tint in manchester, anyone been there?

Stay away from Tint King in Bpt - I hear they use poor quality film. The Tint Man in Monroe does mediocre work. I got my STi done at Silver Lining in Danbury and would HIGHLY recommend them. I got their best tint (Llumar Platinum) and a "UV Sunscreen" done - $320 for everything and the work is flawless. FWIW I live in Monroe and drove almost an hour each way (taking a day off from work too) so they could do my STi. Best tint install I've ever seen. Oh yeah, if you go there, make sure to get the UV Sunscreen installed. It adds $80 but keeps your dash from cracking over the years and definitely makes a difference on the temps inside your car while parked in the sun. Good luck! Meant to add that I had a place, Coastal Tinting in Milford, do my daily driver a few years back.....another bad job. So there's 3 to stay away from!

Thanks STiDayDreamin' that's what I was looking for. But wow, $320 is some big bucks for tints. I've been calling around and have gotten quotes mostly from $120-$200ish for metallic tint. The reason I asked about tint works is because I know they use llumar film which I've heard is about the best. So silver lining does as well though, I'll give them a call. Any pics of the llumar platinum tint on your sti? I'm still undecided on the % I want to go with.

Silver lining does great work, and their prices reflect that. Back in 97 i had my avenger done, one single piece for the rear window. Best tint ever, comes with lifetime guar too. But when I traded in my avenger in 2002, the tint was still perfect.
I'll prob get my RS done there next spring. MadMax |

The Mort - sorry bud - no pics, as I'm a technologically retarded kinda forum member. You're right, $320 is kinda pricey....but if you take out the $80 for the windshield you're at $240....and IMHO spending an extra $40 to get a lifetime guarantee on the best film available is $40 well spent. You're doing a smart thing going w/Llumar - they make a nice product. I'd really stick to my guns w/Silver Lining though....having worked with or seen the work of 5-6 tint shops in my time they are far and away the best. If you're semi-local to me I may be able to meet ya somewhere so you could actually SEE the film in person. I have 18% on the rear glass and 35% the rest of the way around....and it looks very, very smooth. Let us know what happens!

Alright folks - Silver Lining is right off of 84, and down the street from WestConn. Their phone # is (203) 748-4377. I don't know their exact address though. I did need to make an appointment, as they were booked for almost a month when I called. Again, IMHO it was money well spent to go w/them and have a guarantee of perfect work. I know I could've spent less, but wanted it done PERFECTLY. (I'm awfully anal about my STi) Good luck! If you'd like, tell them Stu with the STi recommended you. I was there in late August and sat while they did my car, as I had nowhere to go and nobody followed me up. Nice guys.

I gave silver lining a call and got a quote. I may end up going there as everything I've heard has been really good about them. Although I'm surprised at the big price variations from place to place. I've gotten quotes ranging from $120 - $220. Maybe you get what you pay for though and it's worth it going with llumar film.

Well I went to silver lining yesterday and had them do 35% all the way around using llumar platinum plus. They did a great job and I'm very happy with it. I called the day before and they had an opening the next morning. I'll post some pics in a couple days after everything is set. Thanks for the recoomendation, I'm happy I went there.
