Default All attending the NAIAS (detroit auto show)

It would seem a large number of out-of-towners are planning on attending the show this year, so it seems a prime chance to have a meet.

When? Weekend of the 19th day and time to be determined.

Auto show the 18th, karting/food/meet/whatever the mornign of the 19th... this ok?

Where? a couple possibilities, dinner at a local place? go-karting at kart2kart? yet to be determined (ideas welcome)

E-mail me if you will be here and I will update this thread to reflect any changes.

Also: if we can get together a group of 25 or more we can get tickets for $6 a person (instead of the standard $10) so that is a possibility.

My grilfriend and I will be there from Florida.
Would LOVE to check out kart2kart.

I have to warn you about the GF though...she beats me at the kart track down here sometimes, so I hope you don't mind being beat by a girl.

We'll have Saturday, Jan. 19 open. I think we fly back Saturday around 3:00pm.

If we end up with just a dinner meet, Fishbones in Greektown is a great place. They can easily accomidate large groups and it's just a $.50 People Mover ride from Cobo. That's where I took the SIPP people last year. There's a picture of Fishguy swallowing a raw oyster in the gallery! That's just one idea anyway.

I'll be there. I'm in for whatever we do to meet up. Kart2Kart sounds great, but I don't know how many people would be able to go. If anybody that's staying downtown ends up needing a ride, I would be willing to help out.

I am going on the 14th, a Monday. That is the big benefit of my messed up work schdule. I went lsat year on Monday and its a lot better than going on a weekend day. Doesn't hurt to have a free ticket too.

Anyone else going that day?

I'm there every year... I usually grab the tunnel bus to come over so I won't have my car with me but as long as people are meeting near Cobo then I'm down for sure.

Maybe we could get this "sticky'd" ?

Have to work some magic to join in the general gathering festivities but it just may be possible.

My buddy that works for Mazda said they will have the new 6 there. Its the replacement for the 626. Otherwise known as an Atenza in Japan. They will be getting some ponies within the next couple years; 260+.

Not to mention maybe a STi and a Evo 7. A look at an Aston Martin Vantage too.

While at the NAIAS website I was reading the Dec. Newsletter. The WRX is up for the Car Of The Year this year. They give out that award on the 9th.

Default Dang! I'll be gone!

That would have been an excellent opportunity to finally meet the faces behind the names, but my wife and I are going to Mexico that weekend. I'll raise a margarita to you all on the sunny beaches of the Yucatan.

Never saw a Soob in Mexico. I don't think they're sold there. Lots of VW's though, including new "old" Beetles.

Bruce - it's a shame you can't make it, but we have gatherings of all sorts all the time, keep an eye on the midwest forum for something that catches your fancy. Have a good time in Mexico!

looks like a group purchase of ticets is not goign to work out guys, so if you plan on attending with the group (looks like nothing is goign to work out for the morning of the 19th) you will be on your own for tickets. they can be pre-purchased and are also avaliable at the door, i believe they are the same price but the lines are usually pretty long.

Thanks Jamie! OT: you going to be at sno*drift? we have a similar thread over in midwest about that

On the subject at hand: I keep hearing more interest off the board for a trip to kart2kart, but noone posts here about it. Tom over at Payne Technologies said that if we go he'd like to come along and school us all, sounds like a challenge to me!
If there is enough interest I will call them up and see what we can put together for the morning of the 19th or early afternoon. lets make this work guys, I've never been there before and i'm itchin to try it.

Hey Jamie, you should come to the auto show again this year! Get Subaru to pay for it again too! Tell them you need to do some research or something.

I might be able to meet and attend with a few buds. My girlfriend too with her 2001 RS hopefully. What day/s????? Post exact days and place to meet so we can all start to figure it out! ALSO:
I'm geeting a small group together to check out the Sno-Drift Rally up north by Alpena on Jan. 26? and possibly earlier because I know someone with a rally talon who might head up early(i think those dates are right) so email me if you want to follow a group!
