Default Caddy CTS-V vs STi

Cadillac should have a nice 400 hp CTS-V around November.
Engine: 5.7 V8, 400 hp, 390 torque, directly from Z06 corvette...
Price: around $45-$48k
It ran nurburgring faster than M3, has space of M5..

What do u guys think?

Would I buy one if I had extra cash? Sure why not. Would I buy one as my ONLY car? Probably not, although pulling up to an M3 with confidence in a Cadillac CTS would also be awesome. Just what I think.

When I was car shopping I seriously considered waiting for the CTS-V. But I got back to the states in may, and did not feel like waiting so I got the STi.

I know CTS is a new car, but how is Caddy reliability & service? JP Powers rates them top 5 in both, but I dont know how much I should rely of JD powers.... In a few months I will test drive both , along with TL, G35 coupe and decide.. $3000 GM credit card rebate helps.. But STi with Alpine mp3/DVD unit is looking just as good to me as Caddy..
Anyone knows if Corvette engines are tunable?
I feel bad for bringing this outsider topic here, I am a huge STi fan nevertheless..
This topic can be moved if needed...

Did u buy STi as your only car? It is nice to have AWD, but I still think for VERY long commutes Caddy will be a lot more comfy than STi..

Word!

But then there is a certain perception attached to anyone driving a Caddy. You have to factor that in.

Meanwhile I showed up at paintball this morning in my Legacy and all day folks & fellow employees were still talking about last weekend when I brought my STi.

Most common comment of the day: "The hood scoop was huge, and it came with the car stock!"

BTW, thus far the only vehicles to succesfully climb the very steep and rocky 'mountain' unpaved path to access the field where I play (normally acessed on foot, horseback or via a 4 wheeler) have been Jeeps (Cherokee & Wrangler), a Nissan 4x4 pickup, a Hummer (aka H1), a '04 Forester 2.5 AWD, my '93 Legacy AWD 4EAT and an '89 Caddilac Seville V8 (three times!) on street tires.
The Caddy and the Forestor are owned by a gonzo 17 yr. old who knows the exact and perfect line to take in order to get up & down the mountain.

It seems Caddy just might not be as soft as folks figured.

yeah, but it's not going to arrive until october/november-ish. I'm currently #4 on the list at my dealership. It's white/gold.

Is it me or can you not compare the two cars. Their differenct in every aspect. It'd be like comparing a steak with a hotdog.. ***

PS: I love my STi and would not trade it for the world

Not to mention the fact that the Caddy is almost $20k more than the STi. I just couldn't see spending that much money on a Cadillac but it sure sounds like the real deal.

I think there are way too many magazine car enthusiats here..

Apples and Oranges here..

Too many people compare cars solely on 0-60 and 1/4 mi figures..

Well, performance category is probably the most mucho thing about cars out there..
then it is about: comfort, car's girl pulling ability, space, features, braking abilities, maintenance costs, etc..

I would never buy a cadillac because:
I would never buy an automatic. I would never pay for leather seats. I would never want a heavy car on snow. I would never buy a car that couldn't handle well around two lane hairpin turns. I would never buy a car for "image". And most importantly, I would never race in a straight line.

And for all those who keep posting "STi vs. ..." threads - just because a car can get to 60 mph in under 5 seconds, it does not mean it has anything in common with the STi.

Jeez. A cadillac is a closer comparison to an edsel than the STi.
