Default A couple tire questions (would like a couple tire answers)

1. how much of a difference in overall diameter is there between 215 50 16 and 245 45 17, when both are stretched onto a 7.5" wide rim

2. has anyone here used the bf goodrich scorcher T/A? reviews on tire rack seemed good, and the price is right, they look like they'd be quiet, and hold the road well (in 245 45 17), and they come w/o the ugly color lines through them

3. can anyone recomend a better tire in the same price range that will have the same long treadwear that the scortcher t/a has... and the same ride quietness

The scorcher T/A's are a hideous tire. They have a terrible tread design and should be used for show only (and even then I think they look pretty lame). In a similar price range you could get a Dunlop FM901, or a Kumho 712, both are far superior tires.

All the info you're asking for is in the 'Specs' section for each tire on Tirerack.

Example:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...CSTA+Supra+712

The 245/45-17 712 would be .7" larger in diameter than the 205/55-16. Not good. You'd want the 245/40-17 which is only .2" smaller.

I wouldn't use any of the tires listed in this thread, unless they were free and I was broke. The 901's are probably the best co a bad lot.

There are FAR better choices. Do some more research.

Yeah...I probably shouldn't have used the 712's as an example, because there are FAR better tires. Just wanted to show the diamter specs and they were the first on the list.

by 901's i assume you are talking about the dunlops?

doesn't look bad, but i deffinately want them to last 40k miles at least
and many people in their reviews at tire rack said that they are very noisy, not something i want on the svx although i guess i coudl learn to deal with it if they're that much better than the 712's
