I would upgrade to the D7000 purely for the fact that the AF motor is in the body instead of having to buy the AF-S lenses.

I'm a little late in replying to this but...

IMO, and purely on non-video perspective, I would choose full frame bodies before lenses.

I am by every means an amateur photographer, and only shoot for my own pleasure, but ever since I picked up my FF body, any (non-DX) lens I've shot with has been a magical experience. (I did end up selling all my DX lenses).

If you're a guitarist, I can use this analogy:

A quality guitar through a cheap amp will sound like crap.
A cheap guitar through a quality amp will sound good.

I am NOT saying that quality glass through a starter body will produce poor results. But I have found that my FF body is like a good amp and just makes everything more satisfying.

But when it comes to video, I have no experience :P

Again, it really depends on what you're shooting. If you don't shoot wide angle very often, then a full frame camera might actually be a bit useless, especially since the crop factor gives you more range on the telephoto end. That's why a lot of automotive photographers I know don't even have a full frame camera, but still produce very excellent results. A good example of this is Larry Chen at Speedhunters...he uses a Canon 1DX which isn't full frame (It's APS-H, which is in between APS-C and full frame), but his work really speaks for itself. He even shoots wide angle and still gets great results from his non-full frame camera.

I'm not sure and hopefully someone can chime in and let us know because I'm rather interested in swapping my D5000 for the D7000 now after looking at the specs.

The red's a little bright...maybe take the luminance down a little bit. I'd also probably move the car at tiny bit to the right and down in the frame. I would also chop out that electrical box and corresponding line on the wall.

No your lenses will work perfectly fine on a D7000. Nothing to worry about there...the only issue will be if you move to full frame, because DX lenses will either force it to be cropped on the camera or you can set it without the DX crop, but then have to deal with really bad vignetting.

I will give that a shot later. Cloning all that stuff out with LR4 is going to be a project!

Well that was a challenge! It's extremely hard to do in Lightroom and takes a lot of trial and error. I like the way it came out though. I re framed it as you suggested and turned down the red luminance. I think the color is spot on now.

And here's another of the same shot you critiqued last time except this one has the right focus.

Nothing spectacular, but I rather like this one I got of the clean car last night.

And at a stop light (a little blurry for my liking):

Both of these are looking really good, although in the second shot I'd clone out the dark spot in front of the driver's side front tire and the little tire mark in front of the passenger's side front tire. I also think the driver's side of the car in the second pic is a little too dark compared to the front.

Overall, I think you've reached a point where in order to take the next step forward in your processing, you've got to be able to use layers. If anything, this is a testament to the amount that you can do from solely within Lightroom, and that's really awesome.

Honestly, I don't like the color and tones you've got going on in the first pic. The car and ground are decidedly purple...it's fine for the clouds in the sky to be that color, but together with the really vivid green grass you've got going, it's a bit too surreal for my tastes. There's some weird composition going on as well, since the extreme blurry foreground curves up to the right for some unknown reason. On top of all that, you've got random reflections in the rear bumper.

I like where you're going with the gauge shot and be bokeh looks gorgeous, but it just isn't sharp enough on the gauge. The red's really turned up high as well...I might try desaturating it a little and maybe even taking down the red luminance too.

The lighting on the bike looks fine, but I've never been a fan of plain black backgrounds. This one in particular makes it seem like the bike is floating and not even on any sort of kick stand, and the shadows fade into the blacks of the background very easily. On top of that, you've got some weird debris on the ground that should've been cloned out.

I prefer no streak, but I love the extra pop it gives the picture.

What IS the light streak?

It was a truck that decided to unexpectedly interrupt my long exposure

i am leaning towards non streaked image as well, Armin. i dont like the position of the streak being so close to the car... PLUS taking away from the beautiful night city scape you have there.

Thanks! I completely agree with you, I definitely need Photoshop. The tri pod is coming soon. I was going to get it this week but I bought a flash instead.( not for automotive stuff) Multiple polarizations is my next move and hopefully will bring me to the next level. I love the results I've been getting with my 85mm. Awesome lens for under $400!!

I also like the one without the streak. It takes away from the car and city scene.

I like the work you've been doing with Lightroom. I really need to get it and try it out.

On those two photos they look like they need to be rotated about a degree counter clockwise, but maybe that's just me...

Thanks! Yeah I played around with the level a lot because in the first photo the building is not level and in the second the ground line is also not level, so it kind of throws it off. I personally love Lightroom. I have learned a ton and it is so fast and easy to use, If you could do multiple layers and had better cloning capabilities it would be amazing but I guess that's what PS is for. I do feel like I've reached a limit with my photos as far as processing and I'm always wanting to learn as much as I can.
