Bugeye JDM projector removal
Ok, I am trying to remove my JDM HID projectors out of my bugeye. I ran into a snag while trying to get them out, after viewing many others posts on retro's ive found the issue.
First here is the usual projector bracket ive been seeing Now what I want you to pay attention to is the part of the mounting bracket with a hole. Looking at the projector from the front its the bottom left mounting spot. here is a close-up of that spot (normal version) Ok, now that is nice and easy to remove. Now here comes my luck. This is the way mine look at that mounting point. No hole And how the height adjuster mounts into the bracket. From my observations its a ball-ended rod secured by that white clip. Now I tried to get the clip out, but there is very limited room and would rather not damage my JDM HID's. So anyone have experience with this bracket? What is the method for removal?

flattening the shield will put the focus farther down in the beam. you'll still have to aim it down, even farther, and now the focus will be closer than it should be to your car and make things more difficult to see when they're farthest away, which gives you the most reaction time. there's little to no benefit to just shaving off the shield unless you can then replace the material and make it step up in the other direction.
just aim them down a bit for now and use the time and energy you would use to flatten the beam to get LHD hid projectors. they're not that expensive, i'm sure you can wait until you get them. |

you're gun-ho to modify the projector optically, but you won't drill a hole to get to that one mounting clip on the bracket?
sorry for discussing your projectors in the thread you made about your projectors. i was only trying to help. |

I got it,
Its a bit uneasy to do but just pull . . . hard. Then it pops out. LOL, thought I was going to brake it. But I realized it must be pulled after drilling and observing the clip and prying on the clip a bit. BTW, that metal is like butter to drill through, DAMN! Oh, and the flattened shield helped right hand visibility alot, left hand glare and visiblilty were unaffected. And drivers dont have to worry about any glare issues (love the leveling motors!!) |
