_____________________
I had talked about this a while back on another suby forum but I never released the writeup. The cut process has to be extremely careful and I still need to check a few things before making one.

Anyways, another nasioc member wanted these done and I cant resist a cool project. Anyways, here is the initial quick pics I snapped tonight. The clear cover has to be removed and the grey backing is fastened to the back so the cut line has to be perfect or you'll will not be able to separate the chrome section from the gray back housing. The chrome around the LED's will be taped off.

Anyways, I'll post more, including the reverse lights tomorrow.

enjoy

I was thinking about this idea today when I saw an STi with painted tail lights. Can't wait for the end result.

Neither can I... what opinions do you guys have about what sections of the chrome to tape off? It would be very easy just to tape off the inner sections around the actual LED but the outer oval section would make things a bit more difficult. Obviously its up to the owner but im just trying to get some feed back on what everyone else thinks would look best... so whatcha think?

black out everything. try the LED areas, I can picture it still looking nice with that little of chrome left. As for the reverse light, I can't really picture what it would look like.

Not sure how much experimentation you plan on doing with different colors but I think it would be interesting to see how a metalcast red would look. A black or gunmetal color would look good too.
